Another one for the Romance Novel Quote Challenge with quote n19 from week 1 c:
The Great Hall was bursting with people; wizards and witches from ages eleven to eighteen were sitting eating breakfast. There were five tables; one of the far end, which held professors; and four aligned, in which the students divided per house.
The Four Houses; Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin and Gryffindor lived in relative harmony during these meals, but now, they were constantly interrupted by loud pranks and jokes made by a group of four students, which were all from the Gryffindor House.
No one did blame them, they made people laugh during those dark times, but the group did annoy those who were left astray on their path, which was pretty much everyone.
So, the Marauders had set a chicken on the Slytherins this morning, but the rest of the population were left unaffected and unsurprised, as it happened almost everyday.
They once set a Giant Squid on the Slytherins, but it had to be moved to the lake near the castle.
Marlene McKinnon was laughing at the joke with her friends Dorcas Meadowes and Frank Longbottom, fellow Gryffindors. It was always a good laugh to see the Slytherins squirm, and the rest of the Houses, especially the Gryffindors, loved to annoy them.
Marlene watched as the Marauders stood up and bowed, and smiled, they were awesome, even if they didn't care that much about other things. She couldn't judge anyways; she didn't care about many things too.
She watched them from afar, and her eyes met with Sirius Black's, which were a cold grey, and she grinned. She knew Black had been smitten for her for many years now, but hid it very well. Marlene was very good at picking emotions, so it doesn't matter what he would do, she would find out.
Sirius Black was also very good with the ladies. He was always behind one, or they were behind him. After all, he was very nice and funny, but he put the 'or' in man-whore.
Still in eye contact, she waved at him and smiled. Dorcas nudged her on the ribs, only to receive a glare. Then Marlene smiled at him again. He waved and accidently fell on the mashed eggs.
What a good laugh indeed.
