A/N: Just a quick drabble about Sam and his thoughts on his mother.

What Children Don't Say

Dean slowed the Impala down considerably so he could safely turn into the approaching gas station. He pulled up to the pump and shut the engine off, taking the keys from the ignition and putting them in his pocket before turning to look at Sam in the passenger seat.

"We'll be here for about five minutes. Be ready to go then or I'll leave without you!" Dean joked while getting out of the car.

Sam muttered a whatever in retort and stepped outside to stretch his legs. He walked over to the small shop set up nearby. While browsing, a small book caught his eye. The name of the book was Celebrating Mothers. Normally Sam would ignore these books seeing as he had no mother to give them to. But today, he couldn't ignore it, so he picked it up. He randomly opened the book to a page and read what the quote written on the page.

'A mother always understand what their children don't say.' -Unknown

A tear comes to Sam's eye when he read the quote. Except when there dead, Sam thought angrily, but then took the thought back. His mother was gone, but not completely. He remembered when he returned with Dean to their old house, he had met his mother there. It was brief and only made Sam sadder to see what he was missing.

Sam then thought of all the mothers day gifts he was forced to make in school. He would throw them out at home, in tears, because he didn't have a mother to give them to, like all the other kids. While Sam was thinking about the gifts he threw out, he thought of the quote and felt ashamed. All thoughts of his mother were either angry or depressed.

Sam grabbed his wallet and fished out a ten to buy the book. He never gave his mother anything, but he could start now. Sam tucked the book into his pocket while walking out of the shop.

I love you Mom. Happy belated Mothers Day, Sam thought while walking to the car to meet Dean.

"You ready to go?" Dean asked.

Sam fingered the bok in his pocket before answering.

"Yeah, I'm ready," Sam said, thinking all the while that he'd finally made peace with his past. Sam vowed that he would always buy his mom something on Mothers Day, even if he wasn't able to give it to her.

A/N: I got this idea from a book, that I can't remember the name of, but it was celebrating mothers, and I randomly opened the book to a page and that quote was on it, and I thought of Supernatural and their dead mother. Well hope you liked it. First drabble ever!
