Around this time of day there was nothing left to do. Jobs were completed. Winds gone down. Sun sets slowly, leaving a bright orange light shining threw the trees. That would be even more blinding then a raging fire.
Jackson and Melissa joking around the ocean. Taylor and Daley arguing.
Eric was sitting in front of the beach with his feet in the sand.
Messing with sea shells that were washed ashore.
A young child, a very young child about the age of ten. Walked up to the older teenager. With a straw basket in his hands. Sat next to the sixteen year old.
"Hey." He said throwing his basket across. Eric's eye brows rose up.
"Uhm...Thankyou?"
He asked.
"It's for the sea shells." He said smiling.
"Ya know..to hold stuff...in."
Eric grinned. "Well thanks." He said brushing the sand away.
"So, what's up with you?" He asks.
"Daley's pulled away from me." He said turning to his hands.
"Huh?" He asked confused.
"Daley." He said again. "She's
forgetting about me."
"How can she?" He asked.
"She's here with us."
"She's paying all her
attention..to everyone else. Including Taylor."
"I think
that's because Taylor's doing things wrong Lex." He said. "Daley
still cares about you."
"Yeah I guess.." The
boy sighed. "Sometimes I wonder if she even knows me.."
"Stop
talking like that." He said turning to him. "That is so not
what she thinks."
"How do you know?" Lex asked.
"Yesterday, she and I got into a fight."
"About
what?"
"Like im gonna tell you." He growled. Eric
sighed and turned away.
"Your lucky to have her ya know?" He asked.
"Huh?" Lex asked.
"I wish I had a sister or brother." He said smiling. His smile was quite big that you could see him blush.
Lex shrugged.
They both turned toward the ocean.
"Hey
Eric?"
"Yes?"
"Do you think...D-Think well
still..be friends...when we get home?" He asked,
Eric smiled. The question made him feel warm inside.
He held his hand out and grabbed Lex's,
"Hold out your finger." He said.
Lex obeyed.
"See this thread?" He asked referring to the bright red thread. Lex nodded.
Eric wrapped the tiny red thread around Lex's Index finger. And wrapped one around his own.
"What does this mean?" Lex asked curiously.
Eric smirked. "It means, well always be friends." He said standing up. Lex followed.
"Friends.." Lex
said. And smiled. "Hehheh yeah."
Eric ruffled Lex's
hair.
"I could never forget you kid." He said.
"It's Lex Eric.." He mumbled. "Not kid.."
