"Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Nikki, Happy Birthday to you." Jack sung to his girlfriend.

Nikki turned over in bed and blinked sleepily. "Hi."

He kissed her. "I love you, birthday girl."

"I love you too." She replied, returning the kiss.

"Hey, I've got your presents here!"

"They can wait." Nikki said, kissing him rather enthusiastically.

"Fair point." He chuckled, putting the pile of gifts down.

"So what did you get me?" The blonde haired doctor asked the love of her life a while later. They were cuddling.

"Aha." He passed her the presents. "Here."

"Thank you." She smiled.

It was January; and although it was cold, the love between the pair kept them warm.

Jack had got Nikki a new outfit, a pair of new shoes and a box set of call the midwife, which never failed to make her sob.

He gave her another present, a little box.

She looked at him questioningly.

"Don't worry, I'm not proposing." He responded. "Not yet anyway."

Nikki opened the present, it was a necklace with two hearts. One heart was blue, Nikki's favourite colour, and the other was green, Jack's favourite colour.

"Oh Jack, it's beautiful. Thank you." Nikki beamed.

He put the necklace around her neck and after that they showered, dressed (Nikki of course wore her new outfit), and had breakfast.

When they were finishing up, Jack gave Nikki her card.

It was handmade, with pictures of the two of them all over it.

The birthday message from Jack read:"To the most wonderful partner at home and at work, have a wonderful Birthday. I love you. Oh, and get your coat on. We're going on an adventure! Love from Jack xxxxxx."

"Where are we going, my love?" Nikki questioned.

He tapped her on the nose. "You'll have to wait and see."

They got ready to go, headed out the door, and after that Jack drove them off.

Soon enough, Nikki realised where they were going. "Brighton! I love Brighton." She said happily.

He chuckled at her. "I know."

They got to Brighton, and went for a walk along the pier.

"You know, this is possibly my favourite day in a long time. Thank you, for everything." Nikki said as they walked along sharing some candy floss.

"I should hope so." He smiled. "And you're welcome-anything for the woman I love."
