New World

Different, that was the only word to describe it. Captain Kuro was not on the run anymore. He had staged his own death and was now a butler at a mansion in Syrup Village.

The couple that had taken him in were very kind and generous. Out of all their possessions, it was their daughter that struck him the most. Her name was Kaya. She had blond hair, brown eyes, and pale skin. He surprisingly found it amusing that she kept peeking at him from behind the bainster on the stairs. As soon as they made eye conract, she would hide behind it again.

"She appears to have already taken a liking to you." her father commented. This was a new concept for Kuro. No one had ever liked him.

He felt a tug on his sleeve. Looking down, he saw that it was Kaya.

"Can we play hide and seek?" Captain Kuro did not play hide and seek. Yet, he was not Captain Kuro anymore, he was Klahadore.

Closing his eyes, he started counting. Kaya ran around frantically trying to find a place to hide. She finally decided hiding in a dresser.

Kuro began looking. He looked behind plants, underneath tables and chairs, and on all of the floors of the mansion. It had been about twenty minutes before he even thought of looking in the dresser.

"Found you." he said pushing up his glasses with the palm of his hand. She giggled and ran outside to the garden. At first, he hesitated as to whether or not he should follow her. His question was answered when he saw her at the door beckoning for him to follow.

"I want to show you something." she whispered. She took him by the hand and led him to a secluded part of the garden. After moving a few branches of a bush, she crawled under it and he reluctantly did the same.

On the other side he could tell that they were obviously outside of the grounds. There was a little pond with different kinds of flowers around it.

"This is my secret place."

"And why did you show this to me?" he asked.

"I think it's okay to share a secret with at least one other person." she replied. Laying down on her back, she picked a flower and inhaled it's sweet aroma. "I found this place a year ago. It was filled with weeds. My parents always wondered why I would come in looking so dirty." she laughed. "But after some hard work, it became a beautiful place. I like to think of it as my own little world, a new world. It's just about supper time." The two got up and walked back to the mansion.

Kuro had been thinking about his own new world. Yes, he was a butler, but that would change sooner or later. "Am I beginning to get soft already?" he wondered. He din't have time to think it over, because he had to serve dinner.

It's funny. When I wrote this story, I used purple ink. I should've used orange.
