The (Not so Wonderful) Powers of the Mary-Sue!
--
Edward Elric yawned, leaning back against the seat of the train. He glanced at Alphonse, who was looking out the window, and then looked lazily about the train. A girl at the far end of the train caught his eye; she had hair the color- the color of-
Well, it was some color not normally found on humans, and an unusual eye color. In fact, her eyes were golden! And, golly, look, now that he had noticed her eyes, her hair looked golden too. What a strange coincidence.
As he examined her more closely, he found himself becoming more and more entranced by her beauty. She noticed him staring at her, and walked over. "You must be Edward Elric, the Fullmetal Alchemist," she said, smiling. "My name is…"
--
"Whoa. Whoa. Hold on. I do not get 'bewitched' by her beauty. What the hell is this? And, excuse me, just because I'm blond doesn't mean that's it's… what was it?... 'An unusual color not found on humans.'
--
"… Keiko. My name is Keiko."
'How beautiful,' Ed thought, dazed. Suddenly, two bandits jumped onto the moving train; the physics that state that is impossible to jump onto a moving train thrown out the window.
"We're here for your money. Put your hands up and no one gets hurt," one yelled in a hoarse voice. Several passengers, frightened, did as they were told.
Ed stood up. "I don't think so." He transformed his automail into a blade and leaped at the bandits.
--
"Excuse me? I do not 'leap'."
--
As he leapt towards the bandits, the shorter one smirked and quickly drew an alchemic circle on the wall. He transformed the ground underneath Ed into spikes, and Ed jumped up to avoid being stabbed.
Meanwhile, the other one was preparing to shoot at Ed with his gun, which he had taken out from beneath his jacket. Keiko, seeing this, yelled at Ed. "Watch out!"
Ed, momentarily distracted, turned around, and, in that moment, the bandit fired. Ed yelped as the bullet tore grazed his side, and fell to an ungraceful heap on the floor.
"Oh, Ed!" Keiko sobbed. "I'm sorry! Here, let me help you!"
--
"How does she know my name? I never told her my name! She's a spy, I tell you! A spy!"
"Brother, are you ok?"
"Hey, I bet Mustang hired her to spy on me. That bastard…"
--
Keiko clapped her hands together, and suddenly the men were being stabbed by the new spikes that had formed alongside the old. Keiko wiped a tear from her eye and bent down. "Ed-kun, are you okay?"
"I'm fine," he said, sitting up. "It didn't hit me." Then he looked at her. "How can you do alchemy without a circle?"
She pushed up the sleeve of her arm. "I have automail, too," she said gravely. "I tried to bring my family back to life after a terrible plague killed them all."
"Ma'am?" Al came over. "Brother, this is our stop."
"Oh! It's my stop too. I was sent here by the military to investigate the strange happenings that have recently been observed among the civilians."
"Us too." Ed, Al, and Keiko got off the train, and headed towards the center of town.

I'm still deciding whether to continue this story. Tell me if I should. :)
