Come on, Kono returning to the team deserved something.
Disclaimer: Do not own Hawaii Five-0 etc.
He was a detective and was used to looking at all possible outcomes. This hadn't even crossed his mind.
First of all…she was one of his team mates. Second of all, he usually had someone else on his mind. And third, Chin acted like an overprotective older brother except he also happened to be cop and was therefore armed at all times.
All he had wanted was to give her a fun night out after all the business with her badge being taken away and taking a bullet to the arm. Kono getting reinstated deserved a little celebration and he was going to make it happen even when everyone bailed.
"You don't have to do this."
"What? Come on, you deserve a little celebration. It'll be fun."
"Since when do you have fun?"
Danny feigned offense. "Ouch, that really hurts, you know that?"
"Whatever, Danno."
"Hey, hey. It's Danny."
"Right."
He hadn't really counted on the dress. Red hot. Literally.
Maybe he should've stopped after the first few drinks but hell, it had been a while since he'd let loose and it was Kono's night.
...
She was already slipping on her dress when he woke up; mouth so dry it felt like he'd tried to swallow a spoonful of cinnamon. "Shit, Kono. What did we do last night."
Her fingers fumbled with the zipper. "You seriously don't remember?"
Truth be told, he hadn't been all that drunk. "Here," he sat up and she leaned back. His fingers lightly brushed her skin. "It's all a little hazy."
She stood, tugging down her dress. "Doesn't take a detective to figure it out."
He watched as she started to put on her shoes and then he shook his head. "Hey. You want to grab some coffee or something?"
...
When they walked up to the crime scene, McGarrett barely looked up. "Sorry I missed out on last night. How was it?"
Kono grinned. "I got one hell of a welcome back."
