You've been gone for so long…
"Bonnibel."
Princess Bubblegum was roused from her slumber by the soft whispers of someone she thought she had lost, long ago. She slowly opened her eyes. Cautiously she turned around, willing herself to believe that this was real, that this wasn't just another of her countless dreams.
She gasped softly as her gaze was drawn to the dark figure, floating near her window. The moonlight filtered through the glass plane, gracing the figure with it's soft glow, outlining their distinct features. That magnificent head of dark black hair, and that signature smirk, tugged at the princess's heartstrings, bringing back memories of another time.
"Marceline…Marcy?
The princess was wide awake now. Here was the girl, the girl of her dreams. She was back, in the flesh. The vampire queen smirked, her small fang poking visibly out of the corner of her mouth, before she floated forward, bringing herself closer to the princess.
"Yo, Bonnibel. It's been a while"
The princess blushed slightly, unaccustomed to being called by her real name, it was something that no one else did… No one else; except Marceline, that is.
"A while is an understatement, Marcy."
The vampire queen seemed to be a little taken aback by the princess's harsh tone, but she recovered her signature cool demeanor quickly enough. She smirked again, lightly running a finger down the princess's pink cheek, before wincing as the princess smacked her hand away.
"Oh c'mon, Bonnibel…Don't be like that."
The princess glared at her before getting up from her bed, walking away from the vampire queen and aiming for her bedroom door. Marceline growled before quickly teleporting in front of the princess, blocking her exit. The princess stopped walking but continued to fix her with a withering glare, before coldly stating.
"Out of my way…Now"
"Make me, Princess. I'm not one of your little subjects, I don't have to listen to your orders."
Princess Bubblegum sighed, before slowly stepping forward.
"Marceline, move…Please"
The princess was close to tears now. She couldn't handle being in the same room at her, nor her pretending everything was okay. Everything was not okay.
Marceline's eyes suddenly sparked with realization, moving her to suddenly tackle the princess, wrapping her in her arms.
"Oh Bonny…I'm sorry, I'm so sorry…I'm so stupid…I'm so sorry, Bonny. I didn't mean it, I got caught up…Dad wouldn't let me have anything to do with the surface world while I was in the Nightosphere…I'm sorry, Bonny…"
In the arms of her beloved, the princess finally let the tears spill, the tears she had saved up over the past few months. All her worries, fears and the utter loneliness she had felt, all melted away in the vampire queens embrace. She grasped onto Marceline's shoulders, inhaling the scent of her, trying to imprint every single moment into her memory, just in case.
"I missed you…I worried about you…You're so mean…Making me handle this, all on my own…"
Marceline sighed into Bubblegum's pink locks, truly sorry for what she had put her love through.
"I'll make up for it, Bonny…I swear I will, I'll do whatever it takes, to earn back your trust…To earn back your love."
The princess giggled into Marceline's shoulder, before smiling up at her, wiping away the tears," That sounds good…But you never lost my love in the first place…I will always love you, Marcy."
With that said, she leaned in and reclaimed the lips that she had missed for so long.
