He was walking by the river. Wait! No, not the river, what used to be the river… He looked disgusted at the people who were driving their cars down that road. He wanted nothing more than to make the water rise again. He cursed Yubaba for letting him stay at that bath house for a long time. He couldn't do anything about this now. He then remembered her and a smirk went across his face. It was a gruesome memory when she left him. He felt like a part of him died that day. He just stood up and stared into the clouds remembering his promise to her.
"I wonder if she's still waiting for me?" he whispered to himself
The wind blew hard. Haku's hair swayed wildly in the wind. He closed his eyes and decided to take flight.
She was walking to school. Her eyes as bright and her smile as pure as ever. She held onto her hair band. She was wondering how she got it. Ever since that day, everything was a blur. All she knew was it was important to her. All she knew was there was someone waiting for her. That person, she was waiting for as well. Behind those cheerful black eyes was a past she couldn't remember but wanted to. She smiled at the thought of trying to recover her fractured memories but they all seemed to result to such impossible things—or at least that was what she thought.
Her friend, Yuki, snapped her out of her day dreaming state.
"Hey, Chihiro, you seem out of it again…"
"What? Oh, it's nothing!" she smiled.
She knew there was a missing piece in her heart that she was yet to rediscover.
He visited Yubaba's sister, Zeniba.
"Zeniba, have you heard from Chihiro yet?"
"Oh, Kohaku, I haven't heard from her in six years."
"I see…" he smirked, "I doubt she even remembers me…"
"Come on, dear… Don't feel so bad! If you want to see her, why don't you just go and find her?"
"Are you crazy? What would the humans think when they see a dragon flying around at night—"
"Nothing is impossible, Kohaku… Just believe in yourself" she smiled at him.
He felt himself smirk, "Thanks, Zeniba"
She walked home. Her mind was drifting again and she didn't realize that she made a wrong turn.
"The shrines from the first time I came here…" she said, "I must have made a wrong turn…"
She started walking away but couldn't bring herself to go—not yet. There was something so achingly familiar about this place. It may be the key to recovering her fractured memory. She touched her hair band and took it off revealing her perfectly straight and long brown hair dancing gracefully in the wind. She looked at it and looked at the path leading deep into the woods. She put her hair band back on and started walking down that road. She stumbled upon an old statue and suddenly, a vision flashed.
"I'm not coming!"
"Let's go Chihiro!"
"Let's just go home!"
"Stay in the car then!"
She stood there as her parents entered the tunnel. She looked at the statue, got scared and followed her parents in.
"I wonder…" she bit her lip, "No… It was just a dream…"
