Well, I haven't published anything in a week so here we go.
Pairing: KaixAichi
Time: Legion Mate
His heart was beating in fury. It was clenching in pain with every inhaled bit of air he received in his lungs, making the most simple survival movements a pure torture. He cried out in agony as he dug his fingers deep into his brown hair, almost ripping every single of them out. Despair was his leading urge now, turning his body into an uncontrollable bunch of flesh, skin and bones. His balance was below average, since the effort of providing himself a fresh breeze with his hand ended up in a painful crash on the hard and cold floor of the sanctuary.
"Why? Why did it end like this?"
His voice cracked at the last word. His words were repeated again and again, penetrating his ears in a forceful manner, the weakness clearly getting stronger and stronger as the echo slowly faded away. He was engulfed by the coldness of the blowing wind, which came from all directions, clashing down on him like sharp blades of judgment.
"Kai-kun."
He registered the gentle and soft call of the person, who dedicated his whole life to the protection of Earth and Cray, planets, which were blessed with the gift of letting life be born on their surface and reproducing themselves without any complications and obstacles. After this one single word left his in blood stained lips, he groaned painfully in anguish, wincing at every breath he was forced to make.
Sendou Aichi was dying.
Kai's gaze stared blankly at the body placed in front of him, blood on his hands and his eyes sore from the continuous weeping. He looked down on the ground, seeing cards bathed in pure red blood shattered around the struggling figure. His eyes remained cruelly cold and distant with no emotions shown whatsoever.
This was once my life and the thing which united me together with my soul mate. So why does it tear us apart now?
He thought. Kai chuckled at the tragic irony of the situation. The easy and entertaining game had an enormous effect on his life, opening him the gate to happiness and felicity. He was so close, close enough to craps it with his own cold hands, but lady future had other plans in store. And now the very same game was robbing him of the most important person in his life.
Vanguard was robbing him of Aichi.
He found it incredibly silly as how a simple card game, a simple, primitive card game could decide on someone's precious life. He was feeling betrayed and stamp on by the game, which once meant the whole world to him.
Vanguard is only a silly child's game.
Kai whispered silently before he accepted his respectful place next to the bluenette, who already released his final inhale. He closed his heavy eyelids, nothing but exhaustion inside his weary muscles. He seized Aichi's small pale hand with his own and squeezed it lightly with his fingers.
"Goodnight, Aichi."
REVIEW
A/N I guess, this was more like... honestly, I don't even know how to call it. A story to let some steam out, I suppose.
