Her hair wasn't long enough.

She glared at the mirror for the millionth time, wishing her damn hair would just grow!

Her eyes were slanted and her face was crinkled. Her paper-like skin was so delicate, but that she didn't mind. She also didn't mind her height, weight, eye color. She loved almost everything about herself.

Except her god damn hair length.

She'd never tell anyone, of course. Why would she let them know that she actually cared? They would think much less of her as a Ninja. She wasn't supposed to be focused on such things. Focus on training, on fighting, on protecting Pein's secrets. Focus on keeping the Akatsuki in order, on making sure they didn't kill each other, on making sure no one found their whereabouts.

She wished that she had never become a Ninja. Then she could focus on such things without anyone thinking she was crazy.

She growled angrily before turning away from the mirror.

Stupid hair.

Itachi was surprised to find Konan leaving the bathroom. Though he knew she was human and had human needs, he still thought it odd she had the need to use the bathroom. She did come off a little superficial at times, almost like she was just serving Pein and had no free will.

Then again, he couldn't really talk. He was in that position, too.

She passed him without glancing twice at him. His heart fluttered once again as he caught a glimpse of the shiny blue hair.

He wanted to hit himself. He knew what it meant to have feelings for a team member; one he might someday be on opposite sides of. He had to kill many people he cared deeply for, so he knew better than to make that mistake again.

Sometimes, though, your heart won't listen to your mind.
