The Tarot Series-Arcana 0: The Fool
Characters: Ichigo (Focus), Aizen and Rukia (mentioned).
Word Count: 420 words, not counting info and author's note. Longish drabble?
Prompt (by me):
"To Aizen, the ryoka boy was nothing more than the lynchpin to his grand design. But to a select few, Ichigo was the hope for change they were searching for."
Author's Note:
This is the first entry in the Tarot series. I probably won't be doing all the major Arcana in the Tarot deck, just my favourite ones. I don't claim to be an expert in Tarot, I've just done a little research into it.
One thing to note is that the meaning behind Tarot cards is subject to your interpretation of the meaning. The Fool for me represents change and limitless potential, which made me think of Ichigo.
I wrote this as a sort of internal monologue with a specific person in mind. I won't say who, but rather leave it to the reader's imagination. Feel free to guess who, I may reveal it in a later chapter.
Okay, my long winded speech is over. Enjoy and remember, reviews are love!
Disclaimer: I'm not Tite Kubo, therefore Bleach is not mine. Capisce?
The Fool is the one who sets things in motion.
Upon reflection, Kurosaki Ichigo was the one who brought about both the start and the end to the Winter War.
Kuchiki's failed execution brought Aizen's treachery to light. One had to wonder what would've happened if Ichigo had failed to save Rukia then. Would Aizen choose to still operate in the shadows, as he had for over one hundred years? Probably not; the Aizen that hid behind the carefully constructed smoke and mirror act seemed to have quite the ego.
After the war, I had heard whispers throughout the Seireitei about Aizen's conversation with Ichigo over the Fake Karakura Town. Where this information was obtained from was a mystery to me.
If there was one thing the Soul Society wasn't immune to, it was gossip.
Aizen's claim of orchestrating most of the events in Ichigo's life that led to the confrontation between them were, in my opinion, nothing short of ludicrous. I believe Ichigo would have most likely encountered the world of the Shinigami without Aizen's alleged interference. One might argue that I had too much faith in the Substitute's abilities, but Ichigo had proven more than once that the faith I had in him was never misplaced.
The Fool has the potential for both great good and great harm.
It was no secret that Ichigo's control over his spiritual pressure was...terrible, for lack of a better word. While Ichigo had made some progress, the thought of him attempting Kidō sent shivers down my spine. I have my doubts that Ichigo would ever have an interest in Kidō; he was more apt to deal with conflicts physically. Perhaps that was a blessing in disguise.
Despite this fault, Ichigo was known to be a quick study. To achieve Bankai in just three days was definitely a feat to be proud of. Without a doubt, Ichigo would be the one to watch out for when hissoul reached the Soul Society.
The imminent loss of Ichigo's Shinigami powers came as a surprise to me. What sort of power did he obtain that would demand such a price in return? His time as a Shinigami felt short-lived, it washard to believe that only six months have passed since his powers had awakened.
Though personally, as I watch him leave through the Senkaimon for what could be the last time, I have a feeling this would not be the last the Soul Society saw of Kurosaki Ichigo.
And so ends the Fool's journey.
