SasukeSakura

.

She's covered with red, bleeding tears and crying blood, stained by Sharingan and onyx eyes, and she smiles, beautiful and fragile with her porcelain skin and cherry blossom hair.

"so," she spits out, "how's life going?"

You shrug, scared of what happened to annoying, useless Sakura, because this is someone else, someone strong, powerful. And she's smirking at you, just like you did to her, all those years ago.

And there she is, in front of you, kunai dripping with dreams and shuriken screaming death. And your hand is on metal and you want to slice her neck, and you could, but you don't, because you love her? So you dodge her fury and crush her hopes, watching her every move with a hidden intensity that breaks all the words you describe yourself with, because Uchiha Sasuke doesn't love, now does he? No, he kills and hurts and bathes in dirty blood but he doesn't love. And she—this impostor—knows that perfectly well, but she still keeps trying.

She's panting in front of you, and she says, bitter and broken, "you aren't Sasuke." She drops the suffix, and somewhere in your heart, the fiveseventwelveboy hurts because of it, but the rest of you—immune and now—throws it away and you say, voice cold and uncaring and laced with love,

"you aren't Sakura."

And she stands, looking at you with those emerald eyes and laughs, and your heart wants her happiness and your head wants her life. And she says something, probably something that would change your life if only you were listening, but you don't, because you never really did listen, even before everything.

So you just watch words coming out of her mouth, and you cut her off abruptly, whispersaying, "I love you." You're not sure whether you mean it or not.

And then you leave her.

Just like last time.

.

She hunts you down, of course, and then she yells, voice filled with frustration and anger and through it all you see that scared little girl. Her screaming finally dies down to nothing and then she whispers, "did you mean it?"

You turn to leave, but she lashes out with her furious words, saying, "you're just a coward! You run away whenever you're faced with emotion! I can't fucking believe you!" And she's in front of you, fuming and horribly angry.

"shut up." And there it is, metal on skin, and she's terribly pale, because she doesn't know whether you'll do it or not, but you're satisfied that you don't have to listen to her truths anymore, and so you start to leave.

It's quiet, too quiet, air filled with death and concern and all those things you don't like to be surrounded with, and so you say back to her, "I don't know." just to fill up the emptiness.

.

She doesn't come after you this time, and you're terribly unUchihalike nowadays, almost looking for her, searching for your little china doll, but you never do find her and you can't bring yourself to check in Konoha because then you'll just run away again and that would prove her point.

It isn't until years after that you realize you should've said yes.
