Teardrops On My Guitar BY NaRcIsSiStIcAlLy In LoVe
I wrote this one-shot today in English just to keep my eyes open. I hope it's not crappy.
"Shika! Wait up!" A blur of pink raced through the primary school kid's as fast as her legs could carry her. The lazy ink haired bot stopped and turned just as her tny body with too much energy barreled into him.
"What do you want to come over and play shoji or we could prank people?" She asked hopefully for the twentieth time that week.
"I-"
"Shikamaru, come on! We're going to be late." Ino shouted cutting him off. Sakura's hopeful expression flattened as she looked at the ground dejectedly.
"It's okay Shikamaru. Have fun. I'll just ask my dad to play shoji with me." She said. She left him standing there and walked away in the opposite direction with her head down as the fresh, fat tears raced down her cheeks. she dragged her feet through the dirt on the play ground. She stopped by the gate and looked back one last time to find that Shikamaru had long since disappeared. Then she finally broke down.
PRESENT...
"Watch out!" Naruto's boisterous voice came out of nowhere as a ball hit her in the face. Her books clattered as she fell on her back.
"Sakura-chan are you okay?" He asked her his voice laced with concern.
In the background she could hear someone picking up her books as Naruto helped her up.
"Arigatou..." She stopped her eyes widened as she looked at the familiar chocolate ink-haired boy. He just blinked. Her heart was doing summersaults as stood there dumbfounded.
"Sakura this is the new transfer student Nara Shikamaru." Her entire world stopped as she looked at her long lost friend.
"You never told me you were coming back to Konoha." She said.
"Oi, am I missing something?" Naruto asked thoroughly confused.
"Sakura and I went to the same primary school. We were best friends." Shikamaru elaborated as he stared at the carnation haired girl. He handed her books to her.
"Oh. Well now you can be best friends again." Naruto said enthusiastically. Sakura felt her chest constrict, best friends, how wonderful did that work out the first time around. He just ups and leaves to Suna with out warning.
"You left without a goodbye Shikamaru." She said softly. He cringed inwardly when she used his full name and not his nickname knowing he lost all those years of friendship, where as he would have gotten annoyed with other people if they called him by his nickname.
"I wrote you letters." He said. Naruto just stood there awkwardly like a spectator to a live drama show.
"Yeah I read some of them."
"You never wrote back."
"I know."
"Why not?"
"I'll leave that answer for you to figure out one day. So how is Temari?"
"She's nice, has temper, really smart and has two younger brothers." He said. He had that faraway look in his eyes.
'"Well she sounds wonderful."
"She is."
"Do you want to grab some lunch and maybe catch up for old times sake."
"Sure." He smiled as she tucked a lock of pink hair behind her ear. They just stood there for a while emerald meeting chocolate. Naruto long since forgotten until he cleared his throat.
"Uh. Guys we're going to be late for class."
"Fuck!" A blur of pink shot through the hall ways.
"Wow/Just like old times." Naruto and Shikamaru said in unison.
