He stared into the heavy downpour of rain, trying to find the answer to the question that eternally plagued his mind. Does she love him? To others she was just the bookworm with the untamable hair, but to him she was much more. She was the beautiful reason he was still alive. To the rest of the world he was "the boy-who-lived." To her he was just Harry, the one who struggled to overcome the tragedies of his life and struggling with his potions homework.
"Hello," a gentle voice said quietly surprising him. He hadn't even her arrival as he stood by the large oak that the trio sat under together frequently.
"Hi," he said timidly, trying to keep his mind off of her beauty.
They stood in silence for a few moments taking in the beauty of the rain and barely visible moon.
She was trying to ignore her feelings for him because she knew Ginny had had a crush on him since their first year. She tried to date other men to ignore her feelings for him. There was Viktor Krum, Cormac McLaggen and Ron Weasley, but none of them loved her as much as she loved Harry. He'd given up on believing that he would defeat Voldemort so many times, but she'd kept telling him he had to do it, if not for him, for her and Ron and his parents and Sirius and everyone else.
He'd done it all for her, not just all his loved ones killed by Voldemort and Ron. He knew he had to do it for her, if not for himself.
"Why don't you just ask Ginny?" asked Hermione, startling Harry from his musings.
"Ask her what?" Harry asked confused.
"You know what! Why don't you just ask her to marry you? Everyone knows you two love each other! And you've been going out since after you destroyed that last Horcrux!" Hermione told the oblivious boy.
"What? She doesn't love me! She loves Draco! That's why she broke up with me this morning, that and she said I loved you," said Harry quietly.
"What? Ginny and Draco? She broke up with you? Why didn't you tell me? Wait a second…. You love me?" she asked as she calmed down.
He nodded and reverted his gaze from her face back to the rain.
"I didn't tell you because I know you like Ron and I know you only love me like a brother, at least that's what Ron told me a few years ago." Harry explained.
"Harry, I love you too! I always have! I just always thought I'd never be good enough for you and I thought you and Ginny loved each other." Hermione told flabbergasted Harry James Potter.
Harry turned toward her and their eyes met. They both saw the loving devotion in each other's eyes. They leaned towards each other and the moment their lips met, a voice rang out through the air.
"Harry, Hermione! Mum says to come inside before you both catch a cold!!!!" shouted Ginny over the sound of the rain.
The two looked at each other and walked the short distance to the Weasley house holding hands the entire way. Ginny immediately saw that she had interrupted a very important moment. And she swore she would never do such a thing again.
