I don't own the tv show or the characters.

I do hope you enjoy this little fluff piece

Ethan was resting on the bed when his phone rang. He sat up so fast he got a bit of a head rush. "Hello?" He says into the phone. "Hi, Ethan! How are you?" He recognized the voice right away and he felt a rush of nerves "I'm well, how are you Dana?" "I'm good, I have exciting news. I'd like you to fill the space!" Ethan pumps his fist in the air "Yes, I'd love that! Thank you so much!"

After he hangs up he flops onto his bed with a huge grin. He thought for sure Christian was going to get the spot because he was the obvious choice. His smile vanishes… maybe Christian did get the spot, but had turned it down.

The more Ethan thought about it the more he talked himself into believing it was true. He slips his shoes on and heads to the studio to find Dana. He needed to know. He finds her in the courtyard. She greets him with a grin and offers him a seat.

"Hey, I just had a quick question." Ethan wasn't upset, but rather curious. "Sure, What's up?" Ethan leans forward onto his elbows "Was I your second choice? It's alright if I was, I'm still honored to get the part. I'd just like to know." She sighs and nods "Yes, I chose Christian first, but he doesn't know where he wants to be. He has so much talent, but he doesn't have vision like you do. He sabotaged himself."

Ethan nodded and she said she'd call when they needed him. Next he went to go find Christian. Who in their right mind would give up this once in a life time opportunity? It wasn't hard to find him. He was at the skate park.

"Hey man, can we talk for a moment… Alone?" Ethan asked. Christian raises his eyebrows, but nodded. He popped his skateboard up and gestured for Ethan to lead the way. After a few minutes of walking they ended up on the tracks. "Well… you wanted to talk?" Christian speaks up.

Ethan nods "I got the part." He gauges Christian's reaction. He caught a slight smile "Congrats man. You'll be good." Ethan purses his lips and nods "Yeah, but not as good as you would have been." They had stopped moving and Christian was looking away "Nah, don't put yourself down like that." Ethan smiles "Look I know you got the part before I did. Why did you turn it down?" Christian shrugs "Knew you wanted it more."

He starts to walk away again, but Ethan grabs his shoulder "Wait, come one. We aren't exactly that close." Christian clenches his jaw and turns "What do you want me to say? I know you wanted the part, I knew you'd be better than I would be. I only tried out to mess with you." Ethan sighs and opens his mouth to speak, but Christian speaks first "Can I go now?"

Ethan drops his hand. He was still confused "It just doesn't make sense. I wouldn't have done that for… well for anyone." Christian shakes his head "Why are you pushing this so hard?" "Cause you're hiding something!" Ethan was getting frustrated. Christian's face softens and he cups Ethan's face. It was so unlike him to show emotion, but he was going for it.

He pressed his lips to Ethan's briefly before pulling away. "You wanted a reason. There's your reason." Christian drops his board and skates away. Ethan is left standing feeling rather confused…yet content.
