A Premonition

Sitting atop her bed, the dark girl thought,
the sky outside succumbing to black night.
A clock in her cold hands with which she fought,
trying to speed each second with her might.

For a dark secret burned her very soul;
one with her close friends she could not convey.
To get through this day was her only goal,
but the end she sought was yet far away.

A feeling of evil brewed inside her;
an evil quickly approaching full bloom.
If she could prevent it, she was not sure
because Hell itself threatened to consume.

A fiery end to all the things she knew.
The world she came to love would cease to be.
This premonition—how could it be true?
Was this really to be her destiny?

She hoped it was false. Hoped they were liars.
Hoped the good she had done was not in vain.
But never resting were the desires
of what was she did not know how to restrain.

So as the seconds on that clock passed by,
uncertainty swirled the thoughts in her mind.
All this time she had been wondering why
a solution was what she could not find.

Though fear filled her, her body felt hollow.
Would darkness rise to control the morrow?

A/N'S:

I felt the urge to write a poem. This sonnet was the result. It's my interpretation of what's going through Raven's head at the beginning of Birthmark (S04E01) while she sits on her bed glaring at a clock.

Now, for those of you that don't know, a traditional English sonnet is a 14-lined poem with the rhyme scheme a-b-a-b, c-d-c-d, e-f-e-f, gg, and each line contains only 10 syllables. This is more of an extended version of this; my thoughts wouldn't let me end it in 14 lines. I'm pretty sure Shakespeare is laughing his ass off right now. This was hard to write!
