The Life of a Capitol Child
A/N: Hello all! Phlox here bringing to you a (possible) new story. I present to you, the people of , the first page of a Hunger Games fic that I've had floating around in my head for a while. I would appreciate if I could get some feedback on whether this story should be continued, and what I could change to make the story better. Without further ado, I give you page one of "The Life of A Capitol Child"!
Elektra's deep, amber eyes fluttered open. The clock on the ceiling before her read 8:25 in bright red. She sighed. The same time as every morning. She pulled the soft blue covers away from her slightly damp body. Another cold sweat from another nearly inescapable dream, she figured. Elektra brushed her loose, strawberry blonde curls away from her porcelain face. A mirror dropped down from the ceiling at her command, and she inspected her current appearance. Her cheeks were painted pink, though her face was paler than normal. Her hair was ruffled from sleep, falling to just above her waist, and she looked like she'd had a peaceful sleep despite the terrors that had run through her head the last night. She sent the mirror away, dragging her bare form to the bathroom.
Pressing a bunch of carefully selected buttons, she stepped into the warm water cascading from the shower head. She took a deep breath, running her hands through her long hair as it was saturated with various products. A few minutes later, she exited the shower and was greeted with streams of warm hair, drying her off in thirty seconds. Elektra stared at herself in the large mirror, her eyes wandering over every inch of her clear, pale skin, until they reached the only unnatural thing that was on her body. The orchids wound all the way up her left arm and stopped at the top of her shoulder. Elektra had made the conscious decision to get the tattoo of the pink blossoms as a way to show that she wasn't just another Capitol citizen; but that she was still her. No one even knew what an orchid was, so it was the perfect symbol. The strawberry blonde quickly brushed her teeth and got dressed; a soft blue shirt with sleeves that started at her elbows, a pair of skin-tight, black leggings, and one inch high black wedge heels.
She sat on the chair placed next to her video phone just as it rang. Elektra smiled as her best friend's image appeared on the screen. Xenon's light purple hair was spiked up today, so Elektra giggled when she saw the excitement that was barely contained in his bright blue eyes. She let the phone ring once more before she answered.
"Hey, Xen." She greeted him, smiling and waving.
"Lek! Lek, you wouldn't believe what happened after that party last night!" he exclaimed, bouncing up and down in his seat while Elektra chuckled on her end. Xenon was like an easily excited puppy most of the time; the simplest things made him happy. "Guess! No wait, don't! Okay guess! No, I change my mind! Never mind -"
"Xenon! Can you just tell me?" Elektra finally said, the curls not sandwiched between her back and the couch bouncing to just halfway up her torso and then dropping again. Xenon took a deep breath.
"Okay. I got this!" he pulled the collar of his shirt down to reveal his collarbone, and the gold swirls that lined it. "Awesome, right?" Elektra smiled and shifted closer to the screen.
"Beautiful." She commented, sitting back and blowing a kiss to her friend through the screen. She didn't really believe in altering oneself in the name of fashion, but if it made Xenon happy, she would support his decisions.
