"Leave me alone, Tai."
The sun was scorching on Kaya's back as she walked down the street. Her floral-patterned bag was heavy on her shoulder and she was blushing more than usual. She hated it when Tai Kamiya walked home with her, as they were next-door neighbors.
"Why would I do that when I have the perfect opportunity to hit on you?" He asked bluntly.
Tai openly had a crush on Kaya since they were in first grade. It was the end of fifth grade now and he was still determined to have her under his charm by the end of the school year.
"Give up already!" she groaned. "You have three weeks until the end of the year. I doubt you can swoon me in three weeks."
Tai smirked. " I take that as I challenge. If," he paused, thinking. "I can get you to be my girlfriend in three weeks, I win. If I don't, I have to leave you alone for a month."
She smirked, knowing it wouldn't happen. "Deal."
He shook her hand and raised it to his lips, giving it a kiss and lingering, then jogged ahead, giving her some space.
As she blushed furiously, her heart racing, she realized it was going to be harder than she thought.
