Hiding

It was not fair for Olive Hornby to tease her for her glasses. Olive always teased her for everything and was extremely cruel about it when she did so, her voice always had a mocking edge that always brought tears of shame and embarrassment to her eyes. She was so mean all the time but so were the other students. They always found some way to ridicule and mock her for something.

She did not know why Olive Hornby had chosen to mortify her at that specific time though, while the handsome Tom Riddle had been in the corridor. He would never be with her now. He had seen her be humiliated by another Ravenclaw girl, and yet she was innocent of all the labels they painted on her so easily.

She was hiding in the second floor bathrooms again, too afraid to go out and get teased as she always did. She never went out onto the grounds, even when the sky was blue and the sun was shining merrily.

She knew that she was not pretty and her glasses did not help any. Her parents had barely been able to afford to send her to Hogwarts, so they had not been able to buy her a new pair to replace the ones she had. They had not been expecting her to go so far at the age of eleven as she was a muggleborn and her parents had never even knew of the magical world until she had received her Hogwarts letter.

She really did not know why she even bothered leaving her dorms in the morning or even trying to go to her lessons everyday. It never worked because she almost always ended up hiding somewhere instead and never really went to her lessons.

She did not have any friends. No one cared about her in the entire school. She was the one everybody else looked down at in distaste, even the other muggleborns and most of the Hufflepuffs. The Hufflepuffs weren't as nice as everyone made then seem, they had also teased her on many occasions about the way she dressed or the way she behaved. It was not fair, none of that was her fault.

Sometimes she even wondered if it was worth continuing to come to Hogwarts. If she would be better off dropping out and not completing her magical education but she had waited all this time for Tom Riddle to notice her. A little while longer would not be too bad, would it?

Her dream was futile though, as futile as her getting any friends was. She almost felt cheated at her Sorting. How could she have been Sorted into Ravenclaw when she never got along with any of her classmates, all of whom studied hard and enjoyed learning. She enjoyed learning new things but she hated studying. She could not understand how that Sorting Hat had thought that she would do well in Ravenclaw. The fact that she had been Sorted into Ravenclaw often got her teased by the Hufflepuffs.

She would not think like that though. There was a possibility, as slim as it was with how ugly she looked that someone would want to be friends with her at the very least.
