~Soul Eater~
A world without Evil?
Chapter 1: Recovery
Death the Kid sighed, breaking the silence of the city. He took my gaze away from the clear sky. Haven't seen it that blue in a long time. His mind wandered back to the battle, seeing Maka hit Asura with the final blow. The blood red sky. Everything was a disaster. To think it all started with Medusa the witch, who planned to make her own child a Kishin.
"Hey Kid, aren't you coming along?" Liz Thompson, his Weapon interrupted his thoughts. Kid lifted my head to look back at Liz.
"Yes, I'm just thinking... go on ahead, I will follow shortly." He urged.
She nodded and walked towards the Basketball court. Basketball seems to clear the group's minds. Kid sighed once more and trudged along slowly. What's the matter with me? I should be happy the Kishin is dead but... something doesn't seem right.. of course nothing has seemed right for a while but still. Kid continued walking, not realizing he had arrived and wasn't paying attention.
"Yo Kid, heads up!" The reaper looked up just in time to catch the ball.
"You call that an amazing shot Black*Star?" Soul teased, exposing his sharp teeth. Black*Star gave him a glare.
"Shut up Soul, If Kid was paying attention to my awesome shot, he wouldn't have almost got hit!" Black*Star shouted.
"So Kid, are you going to join us?" The quiet Tsubaki chirped to Kid.
"No. I have too many things on my mind, I wouldn't be focused." He replied, looking towards the bench. Maka was sitting there reading, which didn't surprise him at all. The reaper walked towards her and sat down quietly beside the scythe Meister. After Maka didn't greet him, Kid decided to watch his friends play. It was Tsubaki and Soul versus Liz and Black*Star. Soul passed it to Tsubaki, she received it and dribbled half court, but Black*Star stopped her, she passed to Soul once more which is stolen by Liz before it even came close to Soul. She ran all the way and scored.
"YAHOOOO! That's another point for us!" Black*Star yelled happily.
"Damn it.." Soul muttered.
"Soul I have an idea of what we can do next time." Tsubaki walked over to him.
The game continued for a little bit, but Kid was pulled away but a sudden feeling of someone watching him. He turned to see Maka's emerald green eyes watching him. She looked back at her book and finally spoke.
"Why aren't you playing? You like basketball." She asked blankly, still staring at the words in her book.
"There's too much on my mind at the moment. I haven't been thinking right ever since the battle." Kid replied. Maka closed her book and looked at him and grinned.
"Not symmetry for once?" She giggled. Kid managed a small smile. "Of course I think about symmetry."
She sat up in a straighter sitting position, brushing off her leg. "I can't sleep properly, every time I close my eyes to rest, the Kishin comes to mind..." Her voice trailed off.
The young reaper clenched his fists at the thought of Asura and what his Father told me yesterday.
{Yesterday}
Kid walked into the Death Room to check on his Father. Kid thought he was actually dead at first but once Kid heard he has recovered, the young reaper raced to the Death Room.
"Dad?" He asked, stepping towards his dad, who was standing.
"Ah hello Kid! Wasup? Good to see ya!" He chirped happily. His son's heart sank seeing his mask broken still.
"I just came to see if you were alright. I was really worried Dad.." Kid stared at his fathers broken mask again.
He turned around after a while and was quiet for a long time.
"I think I should tell you something... something you should have known before you fought Asura."
The reaper perked up at the thought of more secrets. Why dad?
"As I mentioned, Asura was a part of my personal squad. Remember when I mentioned him not being human?" He didn't turn to look at Kid.
"Yes? You said you weren't sure." Kid replied quietly.
"Well, I lied about that. He wasn't human before he became a Kishin. He was a reaper Kid." He finished and turned around to see his son's reaction. Kid's eyes widened in fear and surprise.
"B-But, that means!" The young reaper stuttered.
"Yes, he is your brother."
Kid quickly shook away that memory. He still couldn't believe that he had a brother and that it was the Kishin... Why does my Father always keep secrets from me? Kid thought. He jumped when a hand was placed on his shoulder.
"Hey, you ok Kid? You look a little... um paler." She asked, Kid saw worry in her eyes.
"Y-Yes I'm fine, sorry about that."
After Black*Star and Liz won the basketball game, everybody left with little socialization. That same night, Death the Kid and Maka were having troubles sleeping. Having the same nightmare about their recent battle. Maka headed off to the DWMA's roof to think, coincidently, a charming grim reaper decided to do the same thing.
The scythe Mesieter climbed up to the roof quickly. Her nightmare had scared her. She wanted to stop thinking about the battle, but something so big can't be forgotten easily. After climbing the ladder to the top, she seen a shadow of another person, she knew who it was right away.
"Kid?" She asked confused.
The reaper turned around, his golden eyes glittered in the moonlight as he realized he had company. "Maka? Why are you still up? And why are you up here?" He asked.
She walked carefully on the roof and sat down beside her friend. "Just a bad dream and I'm trying to get my mind off of it." She looked up at the sky. Kid sighed and looked up towards the smiling moon. It's toothy grin always seemed to make Kid feel a little better.
"Doesn't the moon have a perfect smile?" Kid asked with a smile of his own forming slowly.
"I guess you could say that..." Maka replied. The scythe Meister turned and watched her friend stare at the moon. His eyes were shinning the same gold they were before. She felt different looking at them this time. My stomach feels tingly, is that normal? She couldn't seem to take her eyes away from him for a moment.
"Something wrong Maka?" He asked, looking confused. Maka snapped back to reality and covered up her thoughts.
"Um.. nothing." She managed, laying back on the roof. "Just tired." She said, half closing her eyes.
There was a short silence between the two Meisters. Kid laid back in the meantime beside Maka. But, a random question came out of Kid.
"Can I tell you something important?" He asked, his eyes not moving from the moon. Maka looked at him wide eyed. Kid has never shared anything important without our friends around… must be personal. His gold gaze dropped from the sky. "It was something my father told me yesterday and it's been bugging me. He told me Asura was my brother." He spat out quickly.
Maka's eyes widened even more. "W-What? N-No way!" She squeaked.
Kid sat up and looked at the scythe Meister. "It's true Maka, apparently he was a Reaper before he became a Kishin." He looked down, wearing a surprisingly calm face. "I just wonder if that's what I have a chance at becoming." He said blankly.
Maka couldn't believe what she just heard. Kid evil? No way! She stood up and glared down at the young reaper. "How could you say that about yourself? You are nothing like him!" She yelled a little louder than she meant to. Kid jumped a little in surprise and stared up at her. "Don't ever say that you would ever become something that evil Kid, because you aren't. You're nice, a little weird and fun to be around." She finished and saw Kid's face form a small blush. Maka hoped the darkness of the night hid hers.
"Thanks." He said quietly, turning he gaze back to the sky hiding his face. Maka wanted to end the awkwardness. "I'm going home, I want to try to get a little sleep." She yawned after.
Kid sat up a little. "One more thing before you leave." He stood up and walked toward Maka. He got closer to her than ever before, her heart started racing for some reason. His hand approached the scythe Meister's hair and he moved it over a little. "There, now your symmetrical." He smiled.
"Ok then you freak, thanks" She giggled and climbed down quietly. She walked home happier than she was before going to the roof top. Kid watched Maka walk back to her apartment. Thankfully she is symmetrical. I wonder if she knows how gorgeous her eyes look in the moonlight. He added in his mind with a chuckle.
Author's note: My first Soul Eater story! It's KidxMaka which I have grown to love. But I do have problems choosing Soul and Kid because I could picture her with both, so hope you enjoy! ^.^ (Edited)
