Hello readers! For the first time in over 3 weeks, I'm posting something on here. This story actually took me about 4 days to write, despite being so short. This is also my third Eureka Seven story. Read and review!
Renton lay on a bed, in a coma. His and Eureka's fight with the Antibody Corallians had left him like this, and Eureka wondered why him and not her.
"Renton, please wake up." She said, tears streaming down her face. She clutched his hand tightly in hers.
"I love you."
Eureka stood over Renton silently now, hoping he would wake up. He couldn't hear her, but she felt like she had to say that she loves him. As she continued to cry, the door to the room opened, and a familiar pink-haired girl walked in.
"Is he still out?" Anemone asked.
"Yes." Eureka said through tears.
"It'll be ok. Renton will wake up."
"You think so?"
"Yeah, he will." Anemone smiled. She had been defeated by Eureka and Renton in the Nirvash, and she begged for her life and asked them if she was allowed aboard the Gekko. After some discussion with Holland, Anemone became part of the crew.
"Thank you Anemone." Eureka said, hugging the other girl. She was still crying, but was happier.
"You're welcome and, you know, it's ok to cry. I'm sad about this too."
"It's…ok to cry?"
"Yes it is, Eureka." Anemone said. "Crying over someone means you love them."
Anemone was right. Eureka loved Renton, and without him, she felt like there was no reason to be alive.
"Thank you again, Anemone. It really means a lot to me what you've been saying." Eureka smiled.
"My pleasure." Anemone smiled and stepped out. Eureka wiped away some more tears and turned back toward Renton.
"As long as you wake up as soon as possible." She said. "That's all I ask."
Eureka smiled at Renton before stepping toward the door. Before she left, she looked back at him.
"For me, Renton. For me."
Eureka stepped out of the room. Renton, despite being in a coma, smiled. He wasn't awake, but rather it was the effect of Eureka's words that made him smile.
