AN: It's been a long time since I first posted this story, and well, circumstances occurred during unanticipated times requiring me to guide my attentions upon alternate matters. In other words, s*** happened and I had to focus on other things popping up. I'm sorry for just completely disappearing, but I'd rather revisit the past so from here on I'm putting it all behind. I now have some consistent free time and so I am deciding to come back to this story. It is quite near and dear to my heart as the first story I ever came up with and never forgot about it. To be honest, there are a few things that will not be the same, but since I never actually moved past the prologue it shouldn't make much difference for you guys.

Anyways, I have rewritten this prologue after realising how abysmal of an attempt I first made. Now being older and wiser, hopefully, I have edited it and corrected the plethora of errors which required no short amount of time. I will continue and fish this story, however be warned that it might not be regular as I still have other duties. Again I apologise for the utter incompetence you guys first suffered when reading this and the following unannounced disappearance.

DISCLAIMER: I make no money from this, nor do I claim anything that can be found in other published works as mine.

PROLOGUE

Chaos.

What do we think about when we think of that word?

Mostly people would think of it as a descriptive word that we use when there is... well, chaos.

Some will know that it was what was there before the existence of Gaea and Ouranos, the primordials of the Earth and sky.

However, few will know that it was also a being. A being which called into existence all there is. A being that was the most powerful entity to ever exist in the greek stories. Well it wasn't exactly a story, it was above a story. It was above a, a myth even. It was a legend.

As the legend goes, Chaos was the one who birthed primordials. The primordials were the first beings to meander the universe that Chaos created. He brought into existence, the very Earth we walk and live on. After that he was said to have put the responsibility of the Earth on the shoulders of the protogenoi and left to create other planets.

That turned out to be his greatest mistake as, as soon as the he put the responsibility of Earth onto their shoulders, the primordials turned power hungry. Their infighting for territory and domains, and the right to rule over all destroyed the entire purpose that Chaos had created the world for.

He was so disappointed beyond comprehension, that he created a prophecy, a law more like, where he foretold that their children would overthrow them and take over the rule of the planet. And should their children follow in the same footsteps, they will share the same fate as the primordials. This would continue until the world got a set of rulers he imagined for the planet he crafted.

After telling the prophecy, he left and retreated out of the planet and into the nothingness to further flesh out his creation with stars and planets.

Time went on on Earth and Gaea gave birth to the Hekatonkheires after being fertilized by Ouranos. Ouranos, fearing of the prophecy given by Chaos, threw his children into the cosmic pit of his brother Tartarus, the final judge and eternal punisher. He repeated this same thing with his children the Elder Cyclops.

Unfortunately this did not sit well with Gaea and she wanted to keep some of her children, so when the titans were born she hid them from her husband. When the time came she gave her eldest son Kronos a mystical scythe which he used to "kill" his father and fulfilled the prophecy given by Chaos. However, Ouranos being a creation of Chaos, was only killed in the physical sense. Gaea did not have the ability to end one of her own siblings completely, only the creator did. As such Ouranos existed for a long time as only an essence, a conscience without a physical presence, able to do nothing but view and contemplate. Only later when Chaos deemed him stable and no longer power hungry, did he return Ouranos to a physical form.

At first, Kronos and his mother ruled the world but soon he began to follow in his father's footsteps and started enslaving the newly evolved human race. Kronos started wanting for complete rule over the world so he drugged his mother and put her in a hibernation like slumber for millennia.

Because Kronos started following in his father's footsteps, the fate was passed on to him, saying that, in time, his children would declare war against him and usurp his rule.

Meanwhile, Chaos was out in the universe crafting different worlds and stars and clustering them in what people now call galaxies. He began to wonder how his first creation was turning out so he looked upon the Earth to find it near the end of the rule of the Titans. He watched all the horrors the that were committed by the Titans and couldn't bear to look upon the planet with anything but pity.

It was his most prized possession and his most beautiful creation and yet here it was, all scarred up just because of a group of power hungry beings who wanted to control everything. He called up the primordials into the void and showed them what they and their children had done to the planet. He made them realize of their mistakes and showed that they had ruined and wasted an entire planet just because of their selfishness.

The Primordials all began feeling guilty of what they had done, all except Gaea who was still deep in slumber due to her being drugged by her son.

Chaos urged them to go back and try and fix their mistakes. After they left Chaos began to think on everything that had happened and knew that there would always be power hungry people in his universe. He decided that when time was right, he would choose the beings with the purest of hearts and soul to be guardians. People indifferent to good and evil, and focused only on protection and preservation carried out with naught but true justice in mind.

Meanwhile, on Earth the primordials returned to find that Kronos had already had five children but had eaten all of them to oppose the given prophecy. Being immortal they would live and grow in their father's stomach. They pitied the children since it was worse than what Ouranos had done to his children. All the stomach acids would burn and torture the children worse than the torture in Tartarus. What was worse was that in Tartarus, the torturers would only punish till the end of the sentence. Afterall Tartarus was named the final judge and as such, after his parent's berating, now ruled with an iron fist to ensure no injustice to the prisoners. In their father's titanic stomach however, there was no end. The acids would constantly burn away at the tender flesh in agonizing pain. And since it was the stomach of a titan, the acid was not just limited to the physical world. There souls and essences were also under constant torture of being dissolved. This constant erosion of their existence was opposed by their immortality, healing equally fast and as such keeping them entrapped in the torment and anguish.

Soon they found out that Rhea was expecting another child, a boy. The protogenoi took this as their chance and decided to subtly manipulate Rhea after she gave birth. The fact that she felt the same righteous fury against her husband as her own mother made their work that much easier. They made Rhea go to a cave and put her baby in it. She then made a clay model and wrapped it up in blankets so it would be hard to differentiate from a real baby. They controlled her to take the fake baby to Kronos who without even taking a glance at it, swallowed it whole and went on with his daily business. Almost as if it was a natural everyday thing that he would gulp down one of his own children.

After that the beings made their way to the cave where they had made Rhea leave her little boy. They decided that Ouranos would disguise himself as Rhea and train him in fighting. They informed Rhea of this and every once in awhile the real Rhea would come down and spend time with her son. Ouranos trained the little boy to be as fair to others as he could so that he would not share the same fate as him and his son.

Time passed and the little boy named Zeus, grew up to be just like his mother, who was actually Ouranos, trained him to be. Once satisfied of his training, Ouranos left him to his life. The real Rhea came from time to time to inform him of things of the outer world. Zeus had been informed not to leave the cave until his mother gave him permission to and he followed that order to his best.

Over time, he reached the age when his mother told him of his two brothers and three sisters that had been eaten alive and were now growing up in endless anguish in his father Kronos's stomach.

Zeus got angry about this and thought up a plan to get his father to vomit out his brothers and sisters. After succeeding in doing that he and his siblings grouped up and declared war on their father, which after fighting for ten years, they won. During the war they helped the Hecatonchires and the Elder Cyclopes climb out of Tartarus and in return they helped them in the war by building them powerful weapons to fight with.

After the war, Gaea finally woke up from her slumber and found out that her sons and daughters were defeated and declared war on the now new rulers of the Earth the gods, her grandchildren. Unknown to her that her son was the one who put her in her slumber, she went out seeking vengeance for her son Kronos's defeat and birthed the Gigantes or Giants. She stole some of Tartarus's power and mixing them with her own created each of the Giants to specifically oppose each one of the new gods. Due to this unnatural method of their conception, the giants were born with adult bodies and minds and immediately attacked the gods.

As all this was going on, Chaos watched on trying to find one who matched his need for his group. So far no one had proved themselves worthy enough. When he noticed Gaea wake up from her slumber and go out for vengeance, he was horror struck. There was finally a group of rulers who were good on the Earth and now his daughter had raised another group of offspring that were nearly undefeatable. He decided that he needed some assistance on Earth since he couldn't always go down and give out prophecies. He called to Ananke and Chronos's three daughters born with foresight in time and ability to manipulate the threads of life created by their mother's spindle. Chaos, who had bestowed upon them the title of Fates, the golden tongued speakers of his prophecies, told them to announce into the Giants a weakness to be their downfall without giving either side any more power than they already had. He wanted the gods to remain humble and as such told them no special weapons or abilities were to be given or taken from either sides. The cunning Fates, understanding his reasons and following his wishes, used the power of their golden tongues and announced that the powerful giants would only be killed when opposed with one and a half gods. Otherwise they would remain unkillable.

At first the gods became befuddled with peculiar announcement. However the then young goddess Athena soon realised what they meant and told the council of then, how they needed the assistance of their half breed, bastards which represented the half. At first their egoes prevented from taking that step, despite the young Athena's warnings, and foolishly came to the agreement to gather up, corner and overpower one giant at a time. However their prides took a massive hit when their every last blow upon the giant nigh instantly healed until the gods were left in exhaustion. They were humiliated for their arrogance of attempting to oppose the words of the Fates. Only at the last moment when every bit of their ego at being supreme beings had been utterly torn asunder did they relent and beg to their demigod children to assist them in battle.

After the war came a time of peace where Chaos still watched how the gods ruled and kept looking for his chosen type of person to show up to lead his guardians. For some reason he had the urge to not simply create one, but for once rather wait for his universe to take its way on its own and give him what it created rather than vice versa. At least that was what he thought. He never came upon the realisation that he himself might be being manipulated to wait.

And finally, after waiting and searching for thousands of years, he found one who actually went even beyond what his expectations were. He was a fraternal twin with another girl born to Poseidon and a mortal. A demigod who took the phrase of walking in both the mortal and immortal world to the literal degree. With feats akin to those of the gods themselves; a will of the strongest caliber to any who ever existed, while being humbler than a born slave; and a sense of fairness and justice unlike any other. Still Chaos, with all he could glean with his all powerful self, remained ignorant to the truth of what and who had actually been born into his universe.
