To Survive
Chapter 1
I didn't want to die.
A loud bang and then piercing pain in my leg. I fell to the floor, legs folding inward.
There were footsteps and I felt as a skinny arm wrapped itself around my neck. I was hoisted up by the arm's owner and a cold piece of metal was placed on my head.
People were screaming, the person holding me was shouting angrily.
I didn't want to die.
Everything was blurry and my injured leg was already numb.
There was more screaming. People were getting louder.
The metal on my head adjusted itself.
I closed my eyes.
I didn't want to die.
A loud noise rang through the room, and darkness quickly overtook me.
I didn't know where I was. Darkness, the afterlife, or limbo, it could've been anything. But during my stay in this dark place I thought about my life and my mistakes.
I was rude to a fault, arrogant, and selfish. No one like me throughout my high school years and that continued on through college.
I put others down to make myself feel better. I hurt people for fun. I made up lies and framed people for crimes they did not commit. Academic dishonesty, stealing money, scamming, I did them all to get by in life.
I was a bully.
And so when the darkness above me cracked and light began pouring in, fresh air burning my nostrils as I greedily inhaled, I couldn't help but think.
I don't deserve this.
My vision was incredibly blurry the first few days. I could barely see anything past a couple inches. My surroundings seemed to be made of rock. Occasionally, I'd spot hints of orange and red, but those were rare moments.
My nose worked just fine, but I couldn't identify the scents around me. The only thing that I could only just recognize was the smell of something burning.
Sounds however felt insanely quiet. The only loud sounds that I've had the pleasure of hearing were the sounds of crying babies near me. The cries came as quickly as they went away, though.
I was still trying to figure what had happened to me and where I was. Something had pulled me out of the darkness that first day. With my senses still dull, however, I wouldn't be able to gather much information. The most I could do was wait.
Eventually my vision cleared up little by little until I was able to see my surroundings. I was inside a cave surrounded by little squishy orange creatures that squirmed in place from time to time. My muscles were too weak to move around though so I just stared up at the ceiling if the cave.
Just as I started to close my eyes I heard a quiet growl. My eyes snapped fully opened and I forced myself with all the energy I had to turn my head to the source of the sound.
My eyes locked with the creature's, and it let out a snarl. My body locked up in fear, but I wasn't paying attention to the creature. Neither was I paying attention to the fact that it looked just like the pokemon Mightyena.
No, my attention was on the big orange dragon (a Charizard my mind helpfully supplied) that stood behind it, claws flying through the air aimed at its head.
I closed my eyes just as I heard a yelp of pain and then whimpers that slowl turned quiet.
Where the hell was I?
