Think Of Me

This is sorry. In the one way I know how.

Mitchie,

Remember when you made me watch that movie? Phantom of the Opera? When you were stuck in a mini obsession?

Think of that movie as you read this. Sing those songs when you need to remind yourself of something happy.

Shed no tears over me.

Or in the words of your favorite character, "The tears I may have shed for your dark fate, grow cold and turn to tears of hate."

Forget my emotional roller coaster. Forget my bursts of anger.

Just remember the Phantom.

Think of me, think of me fondly.

When weve said goodbye. Remember me. Once in a while please promise me youll try.

We never said our love was evergreen. Or as unchanging as the sea.

But if you can still remember.

Spare a thought for me.

Mitchie stared blankly at the tv trying to watch the movie. But she gripped the old letter in her hand. It had been 2 years. She was still heart broken. She sang along weakly with the characters. Trying to cheer herself up. But it couldnt happen.

She loved the Phantom in this movie. But she couldnt do it. She needed her phantom. Not the Raoul she had been with for the past two years.

This is how Christine should have felt as he left him standing in his home in tears.

She shouldnt have wanted to be with another man.

The phantom...

He was still in Mitchies mind. His voice was always there.

But he wanted her to forget him.

Forget all she knew of the angel in hell. But her phantom. He wasnt an angel in hell. He never was.

Mitchie would never be able to remember only the phantom. How could she, when the phantom was only a part of the man she loved?

Her phantom was not a man in a basement whose true name was Erik. Her phantom, was Shane Grey. A confused man who pulled a trigger 2 years ago. And left a blood splattered note for her.

She wiped away her tears and looked up at the screen. The gorgeous opera singer stood on stage singing her heart out. And Mitchie gripped the note and shakily let out words joining her, but her voice failing in comparison.

"Think of me. Think of me fondly. When weve said goodbye."

Although goodbye never happened.
