It's weird sleeping with Hak. Yona was accustomed to sharing the tent with the much smaller Yoon. However, with Shin-Ah injured and Yoon tending to him, Yona found herself sleeping beside Hak beneath a canopy of stars.
But unlike most, she did not feel intimidated by the presence of the six foot something warrior beside her; instead, she felt safe. Nestled warmly under her blanket, Yona gazed up at Hak's sleeping face and decided it was her favorite expression on Hak.
Usually, he was either playfully egging on Kija, whom he called the White Snake, scowling at something Jae-ha (aka droopy eyes) said or worrying about her and Yoon.
But sleep had smoothed away the worried lines, making him seem younger.
Hak looks peaceful, Yona realized. Someday, she vowed, he will never have to worry about her again. If someone had seen her right then, they would not have been able to miss the determined fire that burned in her eyes.
But for now, Yona was content to simply bury her face in his broad shoulders and drift off to sleep.
