Complements
"Dr. Sweets, that has to be the vilest thing I have ever seen!" Dr. Temperance Brennan chided.
"Dr. Brennan, you dig around in dead bodies that are leaking and oozing Lord knows what and you are repulsed by me dipping my French fry into my chocolate milkshake?"
"Yes, yes I am. It's just…gross."
"I'm going to try it!"
"Booth, not you too!" Bones sighed, defeated.
"Of course I am. It looks good."
"Angela!" Bones turned to her best friend for help.
"Sorry, Sweetie but it actually sounds…good."
"You have got to be kidding me!"
Bones sighed as she leaned against the plastic booth. She was suddenly regretting her decision to all go out to the diner to celebrate the Grave Digger case being over with. Hodgins had declined the offer due to his still being shaken up by the memories of being buried alive. Bones was suddenly starting to wish she had gone home like he had. After all, her coworkers (and Sweets) were acting like children! Only elementary schoolers mix unusual concoctions of food for entertainment.
"Oh my God," Angela exclaimed with a laugh, "This is really good!"
"Yeah," Booth nodded in agreement.
"You're only saying that because the sweet sensation of the milkshake mixed with the salty sensation of the French fries are opposites that complement each other well in regards of tastes. It's the same explanation for liking chocolate covered pretzels," Bones sighed.
"I don't care. It's good! Try it!" Booth urged.
"No…I don't think…"
"Come on!" He nudged her, "You'll like it. You even said that sweet and salty go well together!"
"But that still doesn't mean that…"
"Try it, Sweetie," Angela agreed, "You'll like it. I promise."
"You can't know tha…" Before Bones could finish her sentence, Booth and stuffed a chocolate shake-covered fry into her mouth, "Buth," Bones protested around the fry in her mouth.
"Chew and swallow," he instructed as if talking to a little kid.
"Fine," Bones sighed as she finished off the fry. To her amazement, it was actually really good.
"Well?" Booth asked.
"It was…not bad."
"Admit it, you liked it!"
"I did not!"
"You did! I saw it on your face."
"Booth," Bones sighed and rolled her eyes.
"Bones, I know you. I know you liked it."
"Fine," Bones sighed, "I liked it."
"Good. Told you you would!"
"Uh-huh," Bones nodded. Booth shoved the rest of his own shake towards her, "How did you know I was going to finish that?"
"Because," he shrugged, "You always do."
"Speaking of complements…" Angela giggled as she nudged Sweets.
"Ms. Montenagro has a good point," Sweets nodded intelligently, "People can also complement each other very well."
Booth's hand instantly flew awkwardly to the back of his neck, a habit of his when placed in an awkward situation.
"Uh…"
"Oh!" Bones exclaimed, her eyes wide, "Like you and Sweets?"
"WHAT?" Dr. Sweet's eyes nearly bulged out of his head.
"I…I wasn't talking about…I was talking about you and Booth."
"Booth? And me?" Bones blinked, not quite understanding.
"Yes, Sweetie," Angela sighed, "You and Booth. You two complement each other well."
"So you're the French fry to my milkshake?" Bones looked up at Booth, still not quite understanding.
"Yes," He nodded as he popped another French fry into her mouth, "I guess I am."
"Wait, wait, WAIT! Hold the phone! Me and Angela?" Sweets was still flabbergasted.
"What's so wrong with that?" Angela asked innocently.
"N-nothing," Sweets replied, smiling at her, "There's nothing wrong with that at all."
