I do not own Inuyasha

writing for live journal drabble contest under the theme of long distance

Distance. If it were physical distance, he would stop at nothing to shorten.

But it was the distance known as time that kept them apart.

When he met her, she was but a child while he was a grown man. But he waited, and not too long she caught up to him.

They walked side by side, hand in hand.

Finally!

But already the gap started to crack. He grasped onto her with all his might, held her tight, kept her close, yet it did nothing to stop her from slipping away. He tried everything he knew; he could.

But all he could really do was… watch.

He is being left behind!-his cold heart silently screamed.

Her once smooth skin slowly turned wrinkle, her midnight black hair turned silver, and her once strong body grown weary.

Yet, he looked not a day pass twenty.

Such a far distance.

He knew she would soon be taken from him. The day his chest would bleed and never heal.

He embraced the aged lady before him, looked into her bright lively eyes. Her sweet smile shone with love, devotion, loyalty, and was overflown with happiness; just as when she was twenty.

The same and only woman that could melt his cold unfeeling heart .

His Rin.

One day he would lose her to time; the day he would be left an empty shell.

But he refused to let that happen.

Because he'd fallow her.
