Elizabeth's POV

I sat on the couch, Syrus sitting close beside me. It was Halloween, and the two of us were celebrating with a few scary movies.

"It sure is nice to get away from college for a little while," I said.

"You can say that again," he said, putting his arm around my shoulder.

I was in college to become a writer, and Syrus was working on becoming a doctor. We'd graduated from Duel Academy three years earlier, but neither of us could stand to make dueling our proffesion after everything that had happened. Zane and Chazz were now happily married and had moved to another town, so while we were in college, the two of us were staying at the mansion.

I hid my face against his shoulder as a black and white hand came out oif the ground on the screen.

"I hate zombies," I said.

"Doesn't everyone?"

Thunder crashed outside, and Syrus held me closer as I whimpered.

"It's just a storm, Liz."

Syrus's POV

I held Elizabeth as thunder crashed outside, each boom followed by a flash of lightning.

I moved one of my hands to my pocket to make sure it hadn't fallen out.

There was another bright flash and the house went dark, causing Elizabeth to scream. She nearly jumped into my arms.

"It's all right, just let me light some candles," I said, getting up.

I took it out of my pocket and placed it on the stand next to the couch.

A few minutes later, the candles were lit and I was back on the couch.

I held her as close as I could, close enough to smell the shampoo in her hair.

I've got to do this tonight, but I really don't want to while she's scared. Just wait for the right moment, Sy. Yeah, just wait for the right moment.

For a while, we just sat there. Elizabeth laid her head on my chest and sighed.

I grabbed it off the nightstand, and Elizabeth asked what I was up to.

"Ok, I'll tell you. I wanted to know if... How do I put this?"

I got down on one knee and opened the black box I had been keeping in my pocket, revealing a simple gold band with a diamond.

"Elizabeth, on my knee I ask you, will you be my bride?"

"Oh yes Syrus! Of course I will!"

I gripped her hands in mine.

"Then it's settled."

I gently placed the ring on her finger.

"Now my wolfen angel, we can be together for the rest of our lives."
