Percy was angry. He was also a little worried. His entire day had gone bad, beginning when Blackjack reared and through him off after apparently seeing something in the woods.
Sorry, Boss! I didn't mean for you to get hurt. You know, can we get some donuts?
"Sorry Blackjack, I have to go meet Annabeth for sword training." He replied.
When he met Annabeth later that day, she turned down his idea of taking a walk at the beach. As Percy left he thought he saw tears trace the side of her face.
The only good part of his day was playing with Miss O'Leary. She was very happy to see him, and they got to play toss the Greek for a half hour until it was time for his daily walk around the border to check on Peleus, the dragon that no guarded Thalia's tree. While he walked, Percy thought about how bad his luck had been today. At least things couldn't get any worse right!
But if there was anything a demigod should never say, never even think, it was that things couldn't get worse.
Becase it wasn't until a shadow stepped on his head that things got really, really bad.
