It was a warm and sunny afternoon, Ron, Harry and I all had Care of Magical Creatures with Hagrid. We strode down towards his small hut - where he led us out into the Forbidden Forest. Every so often stealing glances at Ron.
Yep, I have fallen for Ron Weasley. You may be thinking, 'why would you do that? Ron is such an idiot sometimes!' But it's on occasion that he does something sweet, or generous, or kind towards me that I get this wave of affection towards him. I tried to tell myself that we were just friends, but to no avail. My brain does not lie. And unfortunately, neither does my heart.
Hagrid stood grinning down at all of us, "Say hello to Buckbeak!" He said, motioning towards the large Hippogriff behind him - I had heard about those. Their supposed to be incredibly dangerous. This did not sound good, "Who wants to say hello?" Hagrid asked. Everyone instinctively backed away, leaving Harry looking like he wanted to - which he obviously did not. Harry tip-toed towards Buckbeak, and bent down before him. But the Hippogriff just screeched loudly, causing me to grab onto Ron's shirt in fear. But that wasn't the worst of it. After Buckbeak had eventually bent down as well, Harry was told to go stoke him, which was when ithappened. Buckbeak screeched yet again, causing me to grab onto Ron's hand as if needing protection from this animal. Ron and I looked at each other for a moment, until I broke our eye contact, unwillingly letting go of his hand.
For the rest of the lesson I just watched, not paying much attention, which is not like me at all. Until the lesson finished and Hagrid dismissed us. Which was when I hurried to get all my books together, grab my bag, and run up to the castle. I decided to try to avoid Ron as much as I could. It shouldn't be too difficult,I thought to myself. I dashed into the Great Hall, placed a few sandwiches in my bag, and ran out and into the Entrance Hall, where I began to rush up the stairs hoping I wasn't being followed by Ron. However, Ron had been in the Entrance Hall when I had ran up the stairs, and had decided to follow me. He grabbed onto my wrist and turned me around to face him.
"What was that?" He asked calmly.
"What ever are you talking about?" I replied, still running to get away from him.
"Oh I don't know, maybe you GRABBING ONTO MY HAND?" He shouted.
"I don't know what your talking about." I lied.
"Come on Hermione! Stop lying! Just tell me the truth! I mean, we're best friends right?" He asked. I turned around to face him.
"What about Harry?" I asked.
"Well, that's different."
"How?" I stared him straight in the eye until he looked down at his shoes.
"Well... No! That's not the point! Don't try to change the subject Hermione Jean Granger!" He looked up at me and I found my self staring at his deep blue eyes. I found myself coming closer towards him until, NO! You two are having an argument! You're angry with him - for some reason! You can't go and kiss him now! HE'S ANGRY AT YOU!I thought. Just as our noses barely touched, I swiftly turned around leaving Ron looking shocked, like a goldfish out of water. I dashed up to Gryffindor Tower, until I stood in front of the Fat Lady.
"Chocolate Frogs." I said to it, and the portrait hole opened. Quickly, I jumped inside, and tried to run up the staircase towards the girls dormitories, until I felt someone hold onto my wrist from stopping me going. I turned around to see Ronald staring up at me.
"I know the reason." He stated, "This is what happened in the Forbidden Forest and now I know why it happened" He motioned towards our hands, "And now there's something I have to finish."
"A-and what's that?" I asked.
"This." He cupped my face in his hands, and leaned in towards me, separating the gap between us. Fireworks burst into my head, the butterflies in my stomach chirped. This was perfection. Ron Weasley.
