"Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave," the words felt so natural coming from his mouth, as if they were always meant to be.

"Kingdom is as great, kingdom is as great," she said muttering to herself, mentally willing the reluctant phrase to make itself known within her mind. The words wouldn't come. She had to save Toby!

"Kingdom is as great," that damn line, why was it so hard to remember??

The clock stuck thirteen. Jareth smiled. She was his. The child didn't matter. Was no longer living anyway. He had fulfilled his purpose.

Sarah screamed. Toby's dead body was lying, broken, on the stone. She reached to touch him, to try and apologise for what she had done to him. She didn't manage to move an inch before Jareth's swift form had enveloped her. She was pulled rigid against his chest, his arms tight around her. There was no escape.

"My Sarah, my beautiful one," he breathed in her ear before he attacked her neck with his insistent kisses.

Sarah wrenched out of sleep. Once again sweat-soaked. She scrambled out of bed, panicked, and ran towards Toby's room. She stopped when she saw the three-year old happily asleep, a smile on his face enjoying whatever dreams his imaginative young mind could invent. She neatened his covers where they had come askew. This routine was a regular practice for her now. The nightmares had been occurring ever since her adventure in the Labyrinth. Although the frequency hadn't lessened the impact over time as she had first expected. They still hit her hard. It was two am in the morning and she knew she wouldn't be going back to sleep that night. Damn, it had been almost a week since the last one. She had been hoping that they would go away, eventually. Three years was enough. In two weeks she would be eighteen, free in absolute from childhood. An adult. She couldn't wait. Tomorrow, well today she realised, was the first day of her last week of school. Only five days left. She returned to her room, determined to sleep. She wouldn't let lack of sleep keep her from enjoying the craziness that always dominated the senior's final week. Practical jokes solid for a whole week. The teachers hated it. As she lay back down, now happily thinking of the madness she had to look forward to and thankfully drifting off to sleep, she failed to spot the snowy white owl gazing at her intently.

Jareth was annoyed. While he felt his need to remind Sarah of what could have been, he cursed himself for turning what should have been fantasies into nightmares for his darling Sarah. He didn't mean to, really. Then there was the problem where he just couldn't resist holding her, even as she fought to escape, his whole world felt at peace with her safely within his embrace.
