Disclaimer: Sadly, I do not own the Hunger Games.

'Till Death Do Us Part

I closed my eyes for just a moment before immediately opening them as I realized that I shouldn't show weakness. Not here. Not in front of a sea of faces that was District 12 and the rest of the world that was watching on their telly.

Beside me, Effie Trinket moved over to the other box to pick out my fellow tribute. Her hand reached into it and as she did this, only one thought flashed across my mind, repeating over and over again, never stopping, just repeating those three words. Please not him.

A slip was pulled out and this time, I couldn't help but bite the inside of my lip. Time seemed to move slowly as she opened the slip, the tension in the air making me more nervous than ever.

"Peeta Mellark," her voice rang clear across the courtyard and to District 12 who was waiting with bated breaths, hoping that they wouldn't be chosen.

No! I screamed inside my mind. Not him. Anyone but him.

My face started to crumble as he walked up onto the stage. I felt like I was about to scream or cry or just break down but his blue eyes suddenly caught mine and flashed a warning. Do not show weakness.

Under his piercing gaze, I immediately recomposed myself and tried to keep my expression neutral. However, the reality of the tributes of District 12 began to sink in for the crowd.

Gasps of shock and horror were heard throughout the crowd and for some, even cries of outrage. After all, it was no secret that Peeta Mellark was the love of my life, as I was his.

To them, making two lovers go into the same arena was a cruel fate that no one should have to suffer.

Effie Trinket seemed confused as to why there was such a dramatic reaction from the crowd, her head looking around questioningly before she spotted Peeta out of the corner of her eye as he pressed against me, his muscular body touching mine as he provided the familiar comfort and warmth that only he could provide. Her suspicions were then proven when he wrapped his arm around my waist, in a way far too intimate to show anything other than the fact that we were a couple.

Effie's eyes widened in shock and she seemed frozen, before she quickly regained her composure and put on a professional smile as she faced the crowd.

"And this concludes the reaping of tributes for this year's Hunger Games," she said, pausing for a moment as her eyes once again darted to his arm tightly curled around my waist.

"May the odds be ever in your favour."

7/2/2012 – So this idea suddenly felt the need to be written out. If there are mistakes I do apologize as I wrote this in a hurry (It's currently really late where I live and I feel like I'm about to drop dead :P). Its short, but it's only the prologue and I do intend to continue it but I really want to know what you guys think of it first.

Good? Bad? Do you want me to continue?

Tell me pleaseee! :D xoxo
