Puzzle Pieces

Disclaimer: The clock on the mantelpiece could tick till the end of time, but even then, the wonderful world of Harry Potter still wouldn't belong to me.

Summary: No one would have guessed that they would end up together. And yet, despite their vast differences, they did. Turns out opposites do attract. A simple Dramione drabble.

Dedicated to my best friend and sister, Zoe tabbycat. Blood relation is not always necessary to become a family member.

READ AND REVIEW, PLEASE! :)

No one in the Wizarding Community would ever have guessed in their wildest dreams that Hermione and Draco would become a couple. Why would they? The two were different in every single aspect.

She was a Gryffindor. He was a Slytherin.

She was kind and polite. He was rude and patronizing.

She had an open mind. He was biased.

She smiled all the time. He sulked all the time.

She fought for the Light. He worked for the Dark.

As you can see, they were as different as day and night. No one could have predicted the relationship they would have.

Dylan Granger was dumbstruck. "You're dating that Malfoy? I thought you said you hated him!"

"Honey?" Sheila Granger pressed her hand to her daughter's forehead. "Are you sure you're feeling okay? No dizziness, fatigue, pain… Anything?"

"How dare you date a… a… Mudblood!" Lucius Malfoy spat threateningly. "This will dishonor the Malfoy name! Have you any idea what this would do to our family, to me?"

"Goodness me, Draco…" Narcissa Malfoy was now what she would call cautiously optimistic. "You're really dating that Granger girl? Well, why didn't you tell me? I could have started planning the wedding sooner!"

"What?" Harry Potter stared at his best friend incredulously. "Come on, Hermione, this isn't a good joke. You've gotta be kidding me. Right? Right?"

Ron Weasley smiled and waited. "Okay, Hermione. What's the punch line?"

Ginny Weasley emitted a high-pitched squeal. "Holy mother of Merlin! I can't believe it! You're with the Slytherin Sex God!" The red-head calmed down slightly, then added in a whisper, "So, how's he like in the sack?"

As you can see for yourself, everyone's response was generally the same – outrage, surprise, disbelief… The list goes on and on. Of course, there were some oddities, like Luna Lovegood, who had only smiled, congratulated the couple, and walked away, whistling something that sounded suspiciously like "Happy Birthday".

Onto more important subjects…

The thing was, Draco and Hermione weren't actually that much of a strange couple. Yes, they were as different as day and night; but tell me, how could day exist without night, and vice versa? It was simply not possible. It is only with one another that they are complete and whole, like two pieces of a puzzle.

Guess opposites do attract after all.

A/N: Surprisingly, I don't really have anything to write about here. But then again, I've always wrote author's notes that are long, or long-ish, which this is definitely not. So I'll try to spout some drivel here and fill up the empty blanks sheets of paper – or rather, word documents.

Anyway, firstly… I'd like to ask you all to REVIEW! I know I'd said this loads of times already, but truly, you have no idea how much joy a compliment could bring me. :)

Oops… There isn't a "secondly". So… Maybe I'll just end it here. (awkward silence) And yes, I knew that was lame, but I really couldn't think of anything!

Yeah… So…

Cheers,
