"Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital", 7 years from now
Alex stood in the office. Although he was trying to prolong this moment for as much longer as he could, he knew that it was the moment.
He was holding in his hands an envelope. On the envelope wrote:
"In the case that something happens to me, to be given to Alex."
Alex already knew who is writing to him. Her handwriting would've recognize anywhere.
The envelope was from his best friend - Mer.
He opened it. His arms were shaking.
He started to read it.
"Dear Alex,
If this letter found a way to you, it means that I'm, either gone, either about to go. Which probably means that Alzheimer caught me too.
But there's no reason to be sad. I lived the life filled by emotions. Besides, now knowing that I'm soon to be with Derek again, I feel happy.
And I don't want for you to be sad. You have Jo and two beautiful kids together.
I need two favors from you, okay?
1. I need from you to take care about my children. Zola is about to start her internship in Grey-Sloan and I need from you to check on her.
2. I need to save the memory, not only about me but about everything. The memory of us, when we still were interns. All five of us. (I know that it won't be easy). Tell Zola how did we met, how, in the begin, nobody of us five couldn't stand you, Evil Spawn ( :) ). How did we menage with April and Jackson in our residency. Also, try to remember everyone whom you crossed paths with. And remember the bad things too. Go sometimes and visit the graves of George, Lexie, Mark ad Derek. I know that I might asking you too much but, from my view, even the bad things are a part of life.
Because the good things... or the bad ones... They're all a part of us, the part of our nature. And, if there's only one person who remembers. the stories about us will be there long after we're gone.
Mer.
P. S. If you ever feel lonely in the hospital, just think about us like a walking shadows filled with a memories. The memory of us will forever live between the walls of Grey-Sloan - you can start from there."
After he finished the reading, Alex's eyes were full of the tears. He swore in silence to Mer that he'll do his best to do what she told him - to keep the memories alive.
After he came out from the office, Alex didn't notice that the leaves of the plant gently moved although there was no wind.
