Protoman was lost, he always was these days, stuck at a crucial crossroads that would either lead to happiness or sorrow.
One direction promised darkness, a place to hide where no one would find the prototype. Deception and pain lined that road, loud neon signs that offer tempting possibilities for a distraction from life.
The other direction, the path less traveled however lead to brightness and joy, a joy that he so desperately wanted down to his core. But he had been down that road before, lost his way in the shining lights and cheerful smiles, and wound up walking that shadowed path that eventually lead to where he was now.
To forget all the pain in a mindless dance? Or return to the place he used to call home? It's hard to decide which path to take when, in the beginning, they all look the same.
The red robot sighs, turns, and heads back in the direction he came from, intent on actually doing something about his problems instead of doggedly pushing on and ignoring them.
"Excuse me," he says, "can you tell me where in the world I am? And, as a follow-up question, do you happen to sell maps by any chance?"
A/N: I will not apologize for this, I just enjoy making people think things contrary to what actually happens. A little backstory is one day my brother and I were messing around and I thought 'what if the reason Protoman never visits Light Labs isn't because he's overly paranoid about being taken apart but because he has the navigational skills of a very lost and stupid cat?' and thus this was born.
