Title: The One
Mom & Dad,
I know you guys thought I was crazy to travel across the world to meet Bella for the first time, but I don't regret it for one second. She picked me up at the airport in Pisa and (after sightseeing for a while) we drove to her house in Florence. I worried our connection would've been lost in person, but it was all for naught. One look into her beautiful amber eyes and everything clicked into place.
Can you believe she lives right near the Uffizi Gallery? Her apartment is a studio, with a loft for her bedroom. To be honest with you, I had been a bit nervous we'd run out of things to discuss. There was no need to worry, since the moment she picked me up we hadn't stopped talking. Also, I noticed I couldn't stop touching her, holding her hand… or staring at her. I mean, she's gorgeous, intriguing, and has the most inviting smile. I'm totally and completely bewitched by this woman.
The rest of week was spent sightseeing, fantastic food, and mostly quiet nights strolling the Ponte Vecchio bridge, except for the night she took me to the local nightclub called the Space Club. You would have gotten a kick out of me trying to dance. Luckily, Bella has enough rhythm for the both of us, since I have none. Oh, and Mom, you would have loved the Boboli Gardens in the Medici's old palace. Besides the sprawling greenery, the hidden benches, there are sculptures, fountains, and statues. So far, my favorite place is the Piazza della Signoria. We would sit for hours and people watch and become familiar with the tons of statues filling the courtyard. Bella is quite proficient in Italian history and mythology. Hours were spent in discussion over Dante Alighieri, Niccolo Machiavelli and the Medicis. She's intelligent, beautiful, and funny. She definitely kept me on my toes with her quick-witted. While shopping in the open-air market, the shopkeepers would call her by name and they'd exchange banter in English and Italian. I didn't understand most of it, but it was still entertaining.
Honestly, we've already made arrangements to see each other next month. We'll discuss it more when I get home, but since her parents live only two hours from us in San Diego, I'll meet her there so she can introduce me to her folks. Then we'll drive to your house in Orange so she can meet you guys. I know you'll love her. She'll be the daughter you've always wanted. Yes, it's that serious. I'm going to marry this woman, and I'm going to ask her when she comes to So. Cal.
Well, I'll call you when I get home next week. Ugh, two weeks is not enough and it's going to be difficult to leave.
Love you, Edward
