Hello, whoever is reading this. So this is my first ever fanfiction. It's not that good, but It's okay in my opinion. Constructive critism is welcome, but please no hate comments. Also, please don't comment about how cheesy it is. Because I know it's cheesy.
It was nighttime at the Butterfly castle. Everyone was sound asleep.
The king, the queen, the squire. All except...the princess.
Star Butterfly tossed and turned. She counted invisible goats. She even tried talking to Glossaryk, but he wasn't much help.
But she just couldn't fall asleep.
Something was nagging at the back of her mind, and it had to do with Marco.
Star sighed. I am not going to fall asleep.
She made her way to the squire's room.
"Marco?" She whispered, knocking lightly on his door. There was no response.
Star quietly opened the door.
Marco was fast asleep, clinging to his pillow. Maybe I shouldn't wake him up, Star thought.
But without him, she felt lonely.
"Psst. Marco," Star said again, nudging his arm slightly.
"Wh-whaa," Marco said sleepily. Then he noticed it was her and opened his eyes. "Star?" He said in surprise. "What are you doing up so late? In my room?"
Star sighed. "Sorry to wake you, but I just couldn't fall asleep. Can you maybe talk with me for a while?"
Marco yawned, "okay, sure."
He followed Star outside. They ended up on the balcony.
Marco smiled. "This is a nice place to talk."
Star nodded. "I would sometimes come here when I couldn't fall asleep before. Look at the stars. It helps."
"So, what did you want to talk to me about?"
Star sighed. This was it.
"Well, it's just...when I first came to Earth, I drove you absolutely crazy. And even after we became friends, I still put you through a lot. Did you ever feel mad about this?"
Marco was silent for a moment.
"...Marco?"
"Of course not, Star. You may have been kinda crazy, but you were my best friend. Any adventures we went on was fun for me."
"Yeah, but what about that time I made you go to Brittney's bus party even thought you told me you had carsickness?"
Marco laughed. "That was funny. And maybe I should have explained a bit better-carsickness also includes buses."
Star laughed too. "Yeah, but don't you ever feel that I was a bit...selfish?"
Marco was quiet again, then said, "yeah, honestly, a bit. It wasn't easy accustoming to a magical princess from another dimension in my life."
"...but, once I got used to it, I had so much fun, and the magical princess was the best friend I've ever had."
Star smiled. "You really mean it?"
"Of course."
Star felt lucky to have such a good friend and squire.
"Hey," Marco said, "the stars are rather beautiful tonight."
"Yeah," Star said, "I mean, I don't mean to brag, but I sometimes feel that Mewnian starry nights are even prettier than Earth's starry nights-" as Star was talking, she didn't even notice Marco looking at her.
"...just like you."
"Yea-wait what?" She blushed. "Oh, stop."
Marco grinned. "I'm serious."
And then he leaned in and kissed her.
As their lips touched, Star felt relief, and all her worries and regrets vanished immediately. She was glad that she met Marco, and he was glad he had met her.
