Disclaimer: I do not own Maple Story or Wizet.

A/N: This is dedicated to my friend who reached level 91 this morning, on May 13, 2006. During the Maple Story Anniversary event, he was playing on his level 2x PQ mage, and inspired this short drabble/one-shot. I hope that this inspires all the people who usually get KS'ed by higher level users not to despair.

The young black-haired mage wandered about in Ant Tunnel, looking for an unoccupied spot to train at. Surprisingly, he managed to come across an empty space with reasonably good spawn. "I'll just train here for awhile to see if I have any luck getting a Maple Lama Staff."

It worked out very well. There was actually more spawn than he first believed. Everything was great until a recently-turned level 40 ice-and-lightning wizard showed up demanding the spot. She was completely unreasonable about the situation. "I was here first! I went down to pick up an item! I was gone for only five seconds!"

I've been training here for twenty minutes. What in all seven hells are you trying to pull with such a blatant and obvious lie? He thought to himself. "Well, you lost your spot because you took too long. You took at least twenty minutes too long."

Seeing that the level 2x mage was not going to move, the girl grew impatient and furious. She went into a rage and cast Thunderstorm. After each attack (or well two), she would use Teleport to cover more distance.

She's just trying to scare me off. Well, it won't work. She's only level 40. If she has Thunderstorm, it's either ineffective or costly of mp. Pair that up with Teleport, which costs her 60 mp per use. The mage smirked. I've been down that path, kid. You have about thirty seconds more to go before you have to re-pot or rest.

He was correct. Every few minutes, the wizard had to hold onto a rope while her mp recovered. The level 40 wizard was losing a KS match to a level 2x mage.

Then a level 50 assassin appeared. He wanted the same spot. "Hey newbie, go to the Henesys Hunting Ground!"

Again, the level 2x mage refused. It wasn't without reason either. For one, he had his own defame army which centered on his level 9x Priest. Anyone who caused trouble would find themselves with negative thirty fame very soon. Secondly, Ant Tunnel was a place of prolific spawn. Every time a new mushroom appeared, the level 50 assassin didn't have enough distance to throw a star. He wound up directly punching the mushrooms to little effect. The mushrooms would push on, and he'd have to focus on dodging them. He dodged nimbly, but was unable to damage the mushroom before the level 2x mage cleared it off with a single Magic Claw attack.

This scene amused the level 2x mage vastly. For every kill the level 40 wizard got, he received three kills. For every kill the level 50 assassin got, he received two kills. Two characters, of approximately twice his level, had lost a KS fight to a single level 2x mage.

Just imagine his satisfaction when, three minutes later, a horned mushroom dropped a shiny fancy red Maple Lama Staff.

A/N: This is based on a true story. The Maple Lama Staff drop didn't actually happen until the day after. My friend logged on, and within three minutes, got the staff. During the KS fight, I heard that he got a variety of other items, though.
