Hello everyone. So this is my first Harry Potter fic i've put on here. Any criticism would be very much appreciated...

It's a really short one-shot, and this concerns a Sirius/OC story i may or may not continue.. so yeah feedback please!

DISCLAIMER: i obviously don't own anything other than my OC and the idea.

She was just perfect for him.

As a friend, of course. She was beautiful, and he was shallow enough to admit that he liked to surround himself with good-looking people. She was smart, because let's face it, unless they were a good snog he didn't have time for daft birds. She was so… charismatic. So happy all the time without it being over bearing. She was just so good. And that's why he liked her.

As a friend.

Lately, though, he'd begun to notice… something was wrong with Anabel. He knew he was the first to notice it because no one else brought it up. And if something was off with Anabel and someone knew, they would bring it up because it would be so out of the norm. No, something was definitely wrong.

He just wasn't sure what.

He'd first started to notice her yawning. She was always so very tired.

Then she wasn't as… bubbly as usual. She still exchanged her sexy, no playful banter with him, and was still flirty, but not like before...

In class she paid even more strict attention, well in all classes except History of Magic. She slept through that class.

She walked differently, with more purpose.

She spoke differently, sometimes more maturely and more thoughtfully.

She looked around differently at her surroundings differently, with a practiced eye, as though scanning for something.

She went around with the weight of the world on her shoulders.

She wasn't in History of Magic today. He knew she'd skived off completely yesterday, saying that if she was just going to sleep through the class she might as well sleep in his bed. And yes, she'd said his bed, something about how if Lily caught her she'd be dead. She'd chosen yesterday specifically in fact because Lily was wandering the castle for prefect duties.

He resolved to talk to her the next time around. He'd pull her aside and have a talk with her, because she just wasn't the same Anabel Walker he knew and lo—

"Oi! Padfoot time to go, class is over." James exclaimed, knocking him out of his thoughts. Sirius blinked rapidly, his eyes refocusing in time to see Professor Binns float through the chalk board.

"Oh. Right. Erm time to go." He muttered, grabbing his bag.
