They'd had a lovely evening strolling in the park after a light supper at Minnie's Tea Room and William had just escorted Julia home. As they stepped onto the path to the front door William turned to her, took both her hands in his and planted a goodnight kiss firmly on her lips. As he released her he stood back and instead of looking at her he self-consciously stared at the ground. Julia was confused but let him be, whatever was bothering him she was sure he'd gather the courage to tell her. "Julia…" he hesitated, "that night in the park, when we'd been drinking absinthe…." Julia looked at him and smiled, "The first time we kissed." "Yes…." he trailed off. Julia wondered, what was wrong? Why was he so hesitant? William finally had the courage to look at her "If I hadn't been drunk … and … I'd had protection," he stared at the ground again, "would you have allowed me to make love to you?" Should she answer, and if so should she answer truthfully? Would he think less of her if she did? He loved her so much and had remained faithful throughout the trials she'd put him through despite the scandals. He knew who it was he loved by now. "Yes." William gathered up his courage and looked her in the eye, "I have protection tonight."
Julia took William by the hand and led him to the door, fumbling in her reticule for the door key. She looked around to see if anyone had seen them but the street was empty. She really didn't need to once again be the object of rumours when she had finally managed to repair her tattered reputation. Opening the door she pushed a stunned and confused William inside ahead of her. Taking one more look around the street Julia closed the door, locking it behind her. The still stunned William hung up his hat as Julia unpinned and removed hers. He helped her with her coat and stepped in front to hang it up. Before he'd moved back Julia slipped his jacket from his shoulders. He took it from her and hung it up beneath his hat. When he turned around Julia was standing right in front of him. She put her arms around his neck and kissed him deeply moulding her body to his. In control of his senses now, this was exactly what William had envisioned.
William wrapped his arms around Julia placing one around her hips and drawing her in to him whilst pressing himself tightly against her body. She released his lips and looked him in the eye. "Why now William? I thought you wanted to wait until we were married." "I do … I did, but my body won't wait any longer." Picking her up by her hips William set her down on the hall table. He wrested apart the buttons of her blouse and threw up her skirt exposing her drawers. Oh my, Julia thought, her fantasy was coming true, William was going to take her right there, right then. She hadn't even had chance to remove his tie.
