Chapter 1: Unusual Meeting

Rose is homesick. Well not really homesick she just missed home. Isn't that the definition of homesick? She and Mickey have been on a Torchwood mission in Spain for a week now. Mickey had decided to come back to this universe with Rose after she practically begged him. They were going home tomorrow but this simple mission should have taken only a day or two. Instead the Silurians had been difficult.

"I'm telling you Mickey you should ask her out," Rose encourages him. Mickey has been contemplating asking out Martha Jones (the parallel version of the one that had traveled with the Doctor) who works with them at Torchwood.

"I don't know. Work relationships never work out. You could talk tough. Why haven't you asked out anyone?" Mickey questions.

Rose sighs and rolls her eyes, "You know why." She had thought she had gotten her forever when the Doctor dropped off the meta-crisis with her. Less than a year after the Doctor left however John got sick. Apparently something had happened to Donna and it affected him. After suffering for two weeks he died. Since then she had buried herself in work. Despite what the tabloids said she was currently single. Suddenly both of them run into someone.

"Oh, I'm so sorry," Rose apologizes. She looks up and immediately recognizes the man in front of her.

"Hey you Sher-," Mickey starts. Roses covers his mouth with her hand.

"Mick we all know who he is but he has obviously faked his death to save people and get rid of Moriarty. He needs to go after all the people associated with him so he needs to remain dead," Rose whispers so only Sherlock and Mickey can hear her. Years of studying and working at Torchwood have taught her how to analyze a situation quickly and then act appropriately.

"Oh very good Ms. Tyler," Sherlock praises her.

"How do you know who I am?" Rose asks surprised. When she found out that in this universe Sherlock Holmes was not only a real person but alive here in the twenty first century she had been overjoyed. The Doctor said he had met Arthur Conon Doyle once. Even though she had never read the books she had been curious.

"I am not the only one who has been in the tabloids," Sherlock dismisses her.

"Oh don't believe anything they say. They get almost everything wrong," Rose says.

"Clearly," Sherlock comments looking over her with an analyzing eye.

"Let's continue this conversation somewhere else," Rose suggests before asking the other questions that are burning inside her.

"I'm tired. Can you give me the key to the hotel?" Mickey inquires. Rose digs into her pocket and gives Mickey the key.

"Actually, I'm on a case," Sherlock rejects Rose's offer.

"Where are you headed?" Rose asks.

"Le Excelente Taberna," Sherlock answers her with a perfect accent.

"Great you can mutli-task then," Rose proposes taking Sherlock's hand. She likes the way it feels in hers. As she pulls him along she observes him more thoroughly. His hair is longer then she has seen in the papers. He's skinny and looks like he hasn't been eating enough since he 'died'. His cloths are not his usual outfit but are just some typical trousers, shirt, and coat. They get to the tavern and walk in arm in arm. Rose has them sit at a table so that Sherlock can view the entire room.

"So how do you know what the tabloids say about me is false?" Rose inquires.

"The paper says you have no job but I can see from the way you carry yourself and you're somewhat uniform that you do have a job. Something military I'd say. You use to be in a serious relationship but not engaged. He died not left. Also from the way you interacted with your partner Mickey you two use to be together but that was some time ago. Now you are just good friends. Even though he is older than you, you are higher up then him. The only thing that is curious is that I detect that use to be lower class but your parents only came into money only a few years ago which doesn't add up with my knowledge of the Tyler family," Sherlock explains. Rose is shocked.

"How do you know he died?" she numbly wonders.

"You have a chain around your neck that goes under your shirt. It is too heavy to have a charm on the end so a man's ring," Sherlock discloses. He observers the room. His target has yet to arrive.

"Why do you say I came from a lower class?" Rose questions.

"Your hair has traces of an at home dye job," Sherlock waves off her questions. Finally Sherlock looks over at Rose.

"Sherlock even your brother doesn't have clearance to know what you are asking me," Rose tells him. Rose smiles her tongue poking out between her teeth. Sherlock looks at Rose curiously but seems to shake away his thought. He looks over to the bar and perks up. Rose looks over and notices something strange about a blonde haired gentleman in a suit.

"The blonde one at the end of the bar?" Rose asks glancing at Sherlock from the corner of her eye. Sherlock nods almost imperceptibly. The blonde man sits there for about ten minutes and then leaves. The two of them get up and follow him at a discreet distance. Something about this bugged Rose. She has seen this before. After about an 804.672 meter (1/2 mile) walk the blonde man uses a key to enter a large expensive looking house. Rose has an alien blaster inside her jacket but she doesn't want to take it out. Then she would have to explain everything to Sherlock. Sherlock tries the door finds it unlocked. Quietly they sneak inside.

"Why have you been following me?" a strange voice says. The blonde man steps forward. Rose almost hits herself in the face. She immediately recognizes the use of a shimmer. Rose mentally sighs.

"You have been associated with Jim Moriarty on many occasions," Sherlock states.

"Yes I have," the man confirms.

"That was not a question," Sherlock brushes off the man's comment. Rose tries to think of a ways to do what she has to without revealing everything to Sherlock. She is sure that if she were try to explain aliens to Mr. Holmes he would think she was insane or worse. The thought of her caring what he thinks of her strikes her. She decides to table the conversation with herself for later. Deciding there is no way around telling Sherlock she wraps her hand around her Torchwood made sonic screwdriver.

"Are you planning on killing me?" the man asks. At that moment Rose takes out the screwdriver and points it at the man. His disguise falls away to reveal a Vinvocci. At the same time the screwdriver sends a signal that Rose hopes will get to Mickey soon.

"So what is a relatively peaceful species doing with a madman?" Rose inquires.

"That's what everyone thinks. No one fears us anymore. Well that is going to change," the Vinvocci gets angry. He takes out a blaster and as he runs past them shots a blast at the ceiling of the house. Rose falls to the ground and feels a weight come on top of her. She looks up and sees Sherlock has fallen on top of her. Or is he covering her from falling debris to protect her? He gets off of Rose and helps her up. Rose runs outside but skids to a halt. She feels Sherlock come up behind her. Mickey is there and has successfully subdued the alien.

"Hey got your signal Rose," Mickey says. A truck pulls up and Mickey puts the Vinvocci in the back. "You can take my car back. I'm going to ride with them," Mickey informs Rose when he sees Sherlock with her. Rose nods to Mick. Mickey drives away with the alien. Rose turns to Sherlock and sees that he is waiting for some explanation of what has happened.

"Come on I will explain everything to you when we get back to where you're staying," Rose tells Sherlock avoiding explaining right now. The car ride to Sherlock's motel room is quiet and filled with unspoken tension. When they got there Rose noticed the low rent place. She expected this since technically he was dead/is a man on the run. Rose goes over and sits on the edge of the bed.

"You're going to think I'm crazy but here it goes," Rose starts. She then proceeds to tell him about aliens and the specific alien, The Doctor. When she gets to him leaving her on the beach the first time she can't keep the sadness from her voice. Finally she ends her story with what happened to John. When she is done Rose sits quietly waiting for Sherlock's claim that she is crazy.

"Based on the evidence I have seen so far and what I know of you I have concluded that I should believe you," Sherlock starts. Rose lifts her head to look at him. "I will need more evidence towards the fact that this Torchwood is real. However since I am technically dead it will have to be after I return," he finishes. Rose smiles and she finds that Sherlock returns a small but genuine one.

"I look forward to that day Sherlock Holmes," Rose comments.

"As do I Rose Tyler," Sherlock exclaims.

Author's Note: According to Google Translate Le Excelente Taberna means the excellent tavern. I am now on fictionpad. You should follow me on there too because I may post things on there earlier then I do on here. My name on there is the same as it is here. I have edited (and in a couple chapters remade) all of my stories expect the incomplete ones and A Supernatural Ballet. This gives you a good excuse to re-read (or read for the first time) all of my stories and maybe review. I would like to thank TheWheelWeaves and SquirrelWho for their inspiring stories. Go check her series This Rose is Extra. Next chapter Sherlock's thoughts after about what has happened in this chapter. Please read, review and recommend. I don't own Doctor Who. I don't own Sherlock.
