Disclaimer: I do not own Twilight or X-Men.

A/N: It was pointed out to me that I seemed to be rushing things in my fanfiction and I completely agree. Plus it's just not turning out the way I meant it to, so I've decided to rewrite it, which isn't all that big since its only two chapters so far. Hope this one is much better than it originally was. Please Review!

Jasper felt it the minute he walked into the school. The overwhelming feeling of pain, sadness, betrayal, and overall utter depression. It was stifling. Who could be in so much pain that it was suffocating him?

Edward noticed something was wrong, but refrained from entering Jasper's mind without permission. "What is it Jasper?" This caught the attention of the other three as well. Jasper tapped his temple, giving his brother permission to enter his mind. Edward could feel it too as he entered Jasper's thoughts. Alice glanced between the two in worry.

"Edward? What is it? What's wrong with Jasper?" Edward looked at the three that remained out of the loop.

"There is someone here in a lot of emotional pain. Possibly even physical pain. It's nearly suffocating Jasper." Rosalie didn't look too concerned.

"There's nothing we can do about it. Not without outing ourselves." Jasper glared at her.

"If that's what it takes, then we do it. No one should feel this! We find whoever it is. Today!" Jasper hissed out before walking away. The rest of them shared a concerned look before following him into the main office.

True to his own promise, Jasper felt around with his own abilities to try and find the person in pain, but was not having much luck. The only thing he was able to determine is that it was coming from the middle school classrooms, but he was uncertain which grade. He was hoping to have more luck at lunch time, where it was a mix of the high school and middle school students.

After his last class before lunch, he barely restrained himself from using his natural speed to put his things away and get to the cafeteria. The moment he was at the door he felt the pull of despair, making him look toward a small girl sitting alone at a table in the back. She smelled strange. Somewhat like the shapeshifters, but not as wet doggish. He decided to make that 'their' table, and started walking over toward it.

His mind screaming at him to help her, telling him that it was his job to keep her safe. He listened to the primal part of himself and knew exactly why. Only one word came to mind. Mate. It was his mate that was in pain! His mate that needed help! A irrational part of himself, hated himself for not being here to protect her, but he pushed that away with a scoff. He thought all this as he approached the table.

"Mind if I sit down?" He asked softly. The girl's head shot up from its previous position on her arms, and he saw fear flash through her green eyes. The look was gone quickly and replaced with a blank mask, before she shrugged and lay her head down again. After a moment, he could hear her sniffing the air then she looked at him quizzically. She then shook her head and put it down again.

Jasper watched her, sending happy waves toward her as he waited for his siblings to arrive. After a few minutes Edward and Alice sat down, quickly followed by Emmet and Rosalie. Jasper could see the girl peek out at them through her hair, before sniffing and laying her head down again.

The next moment her head snapped up and whipped toward Edward, eyes narrowing. Edward gasped and held his head in pain. "If you know what's good for you, you'll stay out of my head." She growled out, before standing to leave. She gave Jasper one last curious look before walking out of the cafeteria. All his siblings turned toward him.

"So that's her?" Rosalie asked as she watched the child walk away. Jasper nodded before looking up.

"She's my mate. And she's in pain. We are going to keep an eye on her." They all agreed quickly, then Emmet's face furrowed in confusion.

"Did you guys smell her? She smelt a bit like a wolf. And then there's the thing where she was sniffing the air. What do you think that was about?" Edward cut in before Jasper could say anything.

"And there was also the fact that she could block me out of her mind. For the most part. Her name is Hannah. That's the most I got from her, before there was a searing pain in my head. If I had been human, I would probably have a nose bleed right now." He said, before smirking and shaking his head. "Only you Jasper." He then got up from the table, followed by the others, besides Jasper. He sat there staring at the seat his mate had previously occupied with small smile on his face.

She was strange, that's for sure. He doubted his life would ever be dull while she was around. He would of course have to wait a while to turn her, if he could turn her at all. It was possible that, like the shape shifters, she would react badly to the venom. He would just have to wait and see.
