Ok... so I may or may not be in a viking mood. Although, this was born from a prompt from a friend, it's also gotten me inspired to continue to work through the next chapter of my Frozen!viking AU fanfic: The Land of Eternal Winter. This drabble is a little silly, but I love how it came out. Hope you enjoy! :D

The second he stepped foot in the castle after a long day of harvesting was the moment he heard a loud clutter echo through the long, empty halls. Kristoff frowned and scratched his head. A giggle followed by a low hush piqued his curiosity.

"Anna?" he called and started forward, rounding a corner and into another hallway. Another clutter echoed, but this time it sounded behind him. He halted then spun on his heels so fast that he collided into a certain strawberry-blonde princess who stumbled backward and flailed her arms in surprise, a wooden sword in one hand and a pillow with a wooden board tied to it in the other.

Wait what?

He surged forward and caught her by the wrist before she could make contact with the ground and split her head open (because carrying an unconscious, bleeding Anna to Elsa would go so well).

"Anna, what are you -"

"Shield wall, Elsa! Shield wall!"

The door behind him slammed open followed by a battle cry and before he knew it, Anna slipped from his grasp to join her sister in an odd formation: Anna crouching behind her pillow of wood and Elsa with her… was that an ice shield and sword?!

And what was she wearing? Scratch that, what were both of them wearing? Was that chainmail in their braids? Were they wearing tunics and leather bodices?

Kristoff's eyes widened at the glares they sent his way and he held his hands up in defense.

"Woah woah, calm down. I am not an enemy! What are you two even doing?"

Anna peeked up over her pillow-shield, her eyes still narrowed into a glare. "We're defending our village! You can't win Kristoff, Thor is on our side!"

"Thor-who?!"

"The god of thunder!" Elsa spoke up, shifting beside her sister as she raised her sharp ice-sword.

Kristoff gulped. Oh no, not this again. Anything but this!

"Yeah!" Anna chimed in and took a step closer, a smirk curled on her lips. "Bow to the all mighty Jarl of Arendelle, Elsa and we will spare you!"

"Jarl?" Kristoff asked as his eyes shot from Anna to Elsa. "I thought you were the Queen of Ice and Snow not Vikings!"

Elsa lowered her shield and pressed the tip of her frigid sword to his throat. He shivered at the look in her eyes.

"I am now."

Was it too late for him to run?
