October the 14th was anything but the best day of Austin's life. He wasn't in the best of moods to begin with, but his eldest, adopted brother was just making things worse. After another strian in Alvin's relationship with Charlene- he'd been too selfish again- he was listening to a bunch of hip-hop garbage. Austin had ignored most of the things coming from the teen's room, but just as he finished his chores, one struck a chord in his heart.
If I got locked away,
And we lost it all today,
Tell me honestly,
Would you still love me the same?
If I showed you my flaws,
If I couldn't be strong,
Tell me honestly,
Would you still love me the same?
The song followed quietly as he traversed the main hall. Theo and Eleanor could be seen kissing in the kitchen, cooking together as usual. He glimpsed Noah and Jeanette smooching as they studied in the former's room; smiles on their faces. Even Dave and Vinny were showing their love as they sat together and watched Saturday night TV. Sighing, Austin retreated to the bedroom he shared with his boyfriend, Simon.
The bespectacled genius was absent at the moment, so his orange-clad love walked out onto their balcony. Leaning against the railing, he looked out at the darkening world before him. The whole world seemed gray; the sunset long since passed. Those same words flowed from Alvin's accursed, open window.
If I got locked away,
And we lost it all today,
Tell me honestly,
Would you still love me the same?
If I showed you my flaws,
If I couldn't be strong,
Tell me honestly,
Would you still love me the same?
Simon rushed to his room after finishing his last chore. He, too, could hear the words blaring out of Alvin's stereo, and he knew his love was easily depressed. The blue-clad teen stepped quietly out onto the balcony; his friend looking at him with a sad, tear-filled face. Pulling the emotional, young man into a hug, Simon led him inside and onto their bed. Stepping away for only a brief moment, he grabbed a plastic bag from the bottom drawer of his nightstand.
"I was saving these for your birthday, but I think you need them more now." Austin blushed as he pulled a soft, yellow, button-up pajama top out of the bag, followed by baby powder and a pack of diapers. How had Simon found out his darkest secret? The question was dropped as he was pushed gently onto his back. Silently, he watched as his love dressed and padded him.
Now clad in one of his favorite outfits, Austin watched as his boyfriend pulled out his usual, dark blue, button-up pajamas. After putting on the shirt, however, Simon deviated from his nightly routine and pulled out another diaper. Smiling, Austin gladly changed him into it. After pausing briefly to brush their teeth, the two slipped under the covers and snuggled up together.
"Thank you… you're the best boyfriend ever." Simon smiled and rubbed his lover's back, pressing a kiss to his forehead.
"You're welcome. Remember, I will always love you, no matter what."
