Missing Remote Control

"Honey do you know where the remote is?" Nick asked Jackie one morning as he sat down on the couch.

It was early and it had been a slow night at the lab so Nick got to leave a little early and since it was Saturday Jackie would normally be sleeping but Hundley had other ideas, she was hungry which meant there would be no sleeping in for Jackie, she didn't mind though.

"It should be right there on the couch." Jackie responded as she sat down holding Hundley and the baby's bottle.

"Nope, it's not." He responded after he had looked around for it somewhat.

"Karlie." Both Nick and Jackie exclaimed at once before bursting out laughing.

Almost always when the remote disappeared the little girl was the culprit, she had a small obsession with that thing, sometimes she'd just take it to hide it and sometimes she'd take it and use it to play with, she'd stack stuff on top of it, one time she made a ladder out of it for her doll house. Nick and Jackie even had to admit that it was very creative.

Nick, and Jackie tiptoed up to the little girl's room to investigate. Karlie was fast asleep in her bed and sure enough on Karlie's small coloring table was a house made out of blocks, and the roof of the house was made out of the remote control. Nick and Jackie smiled at one another and shook their heads before going back downstairs.

Nick left the remote where it was in fear that Karlie's house would fall down and wake her up, not to mention if he knocked it down he'd get an earful from the spirited little girl.

"Want me to feed the baby so you can go back to sleep for a while?" Nick offered sweetly.

"Would you mind?" She asked.

"Nope." He told her with a smile as he held his arms out.

"Thanks hon." She told him as she handed Hundley over to him.

Hundley gave Nick a wide grin.

"Aww, hi peanut." He told the infant with a smile of his own.

He turned his attention to Jackie.

"Look Jacks, this one likes me." He quipped.

She laughed.

"They all like you." She assured him.

"Yeah maybe, but Karlie wouldn't have had I knocked down her house retrieving the remote control."

"She would have still liked you, she just would have been super mad at you." She told him with a chuckle.

"Maybe." He agreed.

The baby drank her bottle and then fell back asleep.

Nick carefully walked up the stairs with her in her arms and laid her gently in her crib before he went back downstairs and rejoined Jackie on the couch.

"Well what do you say we get a little sleep before the kids get up?" Jackie asked him.

"Sure, why not, we can't watch TV after all." He told her with a grin.

She laughed.

Soon they were fast asleep, wrapped in each other's arms!

The End!
