A/N: I read through all of the (no pairing) Sadness fanfiction here within a few hours. Anyone who can recommend sad Sadness fic's from other websites are much appreciated. Disclaimer: I don't own Inside Out.
"Come on, Joy. One more time. I've got a feeling about this one."
Joy pulled the wagon back into position and Bung Bong watched her struggle. He wished he could help her, but he was no use with one arm. Bing Bong looked back up at the cliff face. The top was lit up before the rest descended into darkness. Whenever they flew, it was always just out of reach... As if it was taunting them.
Bing Bong sighed and looked at Joy again. The glowing emotion huffed and straightened the wagon wheels. She needed to get back up there. She needed to find Sadness and help his Riley be happy again.
He looked down at his pink body. Riley had grown up while he'd been away. She was so big it would be nigh impossible for them both to fit in his spaceship. Maybe... Maybe that was a sign that he needed to let go.
Riley had grown up. She had friends of her own. She didn't need her imaginary friend anymore. It was... It was for the best. Sometimes you needed to let go or put away childish things.
Sometimes you needed to grow up.
She would always have her longterm memories of him and the fun times they had... And, if that was all he could ever hope for, he might as well take it. Besides, emotions were much more important than imaginary friends.
Bing Bong climbed into his wagon behind Joy and urged her to sing louder as they flew. Bing Bong took a last look at the sky before he jumped off. As Bing Bong fell, all he wished is that maybe someday, his Riley might go to the moon and remember all the fun filled times they had... Maybe she would grin and recall a fleeting memory of her imaginary friend,
Bing Bong.
"Take her to the moon for me, okay?"
