Hey guys! BeautifulWolfGirl here! This is just a short one-shot on Byakuya that I came up with a couple days ago. I was in Iowa and it was raining and this just came to me...;). I've decided to make it into a series of one-shots, basically written in different character's perspectives about stuff in thier lives...not sure how to really say that! Anyway, I'm doing Ulquiorra next, he will be talking about the heart and what he thinks it is!

The rain poured down on the Kuchiki's Mansion. A loud crack of thunder woke the sleeping figure from his already troubled sleep. Byakuya lay there, his eyes wide with shock. He closed them and tried to slow his breathing and heart rate. He'd had the dream again. No, it's not a dream. It's a nightmare. he told himself.
It was a memory really; a memory that haunted not only his dreams, but his waking life as well. Aizen stood there, with Byakuya's sister held by her throat. Then, with his free hand, covered in the bark-like skin, he reached into Rukia and grabbed the small Hogyoku from her body. Her scream echoed in the air as her chest is opened by an invisible force. Then Aizen dropped her limply to the ground, telling Gin to kill her as he had no further use for her.
This was the memory that haunted his dreams night after night. In those moments after waking, he was not the Captain of Squad 6. He wasn't the prideful, if slightly arrogant, leader of the Kuchiki Clan. He was a brother, terrified because his younger sister had almost died. He would never forgive himself if anyone saw him in those moments of absolute weakness; his shaking body, sweat running rivers down his face and chest; his features contorted in anguish and fear.
And yet...
And yet he was almost desperate for someone to discover the nightmares that made him quieter, slightly more irritable, and more tired throughout the day. He wanted to tell someone about what was happening to him; about these nightmares. His pride though...his pride was the only thing that held him back from speaking when anyone asked if he was all right. The person that asked this question the most was Renji; his loyal lieutenant and closest friend. He had, on several occasions, almost told Renji about his nightmares, but then he remembered that he had his pride, and the Kuchiki Clan wasn't known for bring weak.
So why do I feel so weak now? He asked himself desperately. He knew the answer, deep I'm his heart.
It was because in that moment, he had almost failed. If he had been hit a few inches over with Gin's Zanpacuto, he would have died, not only allowing Aizen to kill his sister, but also to leave the Kuchiki Clan leaderless. It had been a risk he was willing to take though.
With this thought in mind, Byakuya drifted into a dreamless sleep.
