Hey guys! So, I'm starting a series of one-shots based on a poetry challenge in honor of National Poetry Month this month. However, considering the fact that I would give poetry a bad name if I tried, I figured I'd use the same prompts to write one-shots instead! These are based off the prompts given by tylerkentwhite and amandatorroni on Instagram! I really hope you guys enjoy them!

It was a bright day in summer when she arrived on the island, but a warm and quiet evening when he first saw her.

How small of a person she was with her petite frame, her tiny hands, and her dainty feet. She was short and thin with beautiful long brown hair and mesmerizing chocolate-colored eyes. Oh, how he had wanted to melt the first time his amethyst eyes met hers.

She walked in a graceful way, the kind of way that showed she had been brought up well. All of her movements were elegant and her actions were always nimble and precise.

He had realized that while her beauty seemed ethereal, she, herself, was not by any means delicate.

Being a chef at the local bar in town, the Brass Bar, it was his job to help clean up the bar around closing time. She had been making rounds, introducing herself to all his fellow citizens living in Harmonica Town. She had been talking to his coworker and equestrian enthusiast, Kathy, when he had overheard that she was the new farmer in town.

At first, this fact shocked him, as she was so small and frail. But upon closer inspection, he realized that she was toned and carried a strong air about her. He reminded himself to never judge a book by its cover again. The girl he originally thought to be frail and delicate, he would later learn, was the same girl who brought so much life back into the island, his home.

As Kathy was busy talking animatedly to this new islander, the farmer girl, he took it upon himself to finish closing the bar. "Last call," he announced. Many islanders and overnight visitors began to pack their belongings, patting their pockets to check for their wallets and house or room keys.

At his announcement, the new farmer looked up at him. When their gaze met, he almost dropped a glass he was drying. Kathy also looked up, noticing the pause in her new friend's attention.

Kathy put her arm around the girl's shoulder, bringing her toward the counter. "Hey Chase! Meet our new farmer on the island! This girl has already got big plans in store for the harvest this season!" He smiled awkwardly at the two females in front of him, not really sure what to say.

"I'm Angela. It's very nice to meet you." He noticed the slight tinge of pink in her cheeks and had to try very hard to keep his from flaring up as well.

"Chase. Likewise." Well that was a stupid thing to say, he thought.

"Don't worry about Chase," Kathy cut in. "He's always stand-offish with new people."

When he heard Angela's giggle, he could not control the flare of color in his cheeks and prayed to the Goddess that they thought it was embarrassment at Kathy's comment. Really, Angela's laugh just had that effect on him.

So I know it's really short, but I have not yet decided whether I want to make the one-shots to kind of create a story of past, present, and future with the prompts of the challenge, or if I want them to be random one-shots. I think I'll try my hardest to tell a story in a way with one-shots, but we'll see as the one-shots keep coming haha. I hope you guys enjoyed the first chapter! Much love!
