Passion and the opera
Chapter I
Olivia was sitting at the piano since hours. Lost in her play and the sound of the beloved instrument, her fingers moved over the keyboard with such a lightness that you really could feel the emotions she was trying to catch with that melody.
When she finally stopped playing it was already dark outside.
Olivia hadn't realized how much time she had spent on the piano once again until she took a look at the clock. It was almost 9 pm.
Damn! I'm late for dinner with Josh. Again.
Sighing heavily, she headed off to take a quick shower and left her appartment not even twenty minutes later.
Being a famous pianist wasn't easy and it cleary had its price, but the piano was the one true love in Olivia Spencer's life.
She was playing since she could remember and she had learned and practised hard for a very long time to get where she was now.
And although she had made all her dreams about her career come true and had reached all her targets, she still wasn't happy.
In fact, Olivia was lonely.
Her relationships never survived her love for the piano. Nobody could deal with her playing for hours, even days sometimes. Everybody left after a while, even the ones who admired her talent.
So, after 5 failed marriages, countless failed relationships, she still was alone.
She never had wasted a thought on having a family, but deep inside she still craved for one.
When Olivia finally arrived at the restaurant, she bumped straight into Josh, who was about to leave.
"Hey! I'm sorry. I forgot the time...I was...well, you know..." Olivia announced immediately, dropping her head.
"Let me guess? Playing the piano?" Josh's voice was almost a growl.
"Yeah," she sighed heavily.
"You know, Olivia, I love you. You are my best friend...but this..." he moved his index finger between the two of them, giving her a stern look, "It's starts to annoy me."
"I'm sorry. Really, really sorry."
Josh looked at her, but when he saw the sadness in Olivia's eyes, he couldn't be mad at her.
"Have you eaten today?"
"I had coffee," Olivia admitted with a shrug.
"What about dinner then?" His voice was all soft and caring now.
She gave him a small smile.
Josh. Her beloved friend Josh. That was exactly why she loved him so much. 'Cause she knew how many times she had fucked up, but he was still there, cared for her, tried to understand her, supported her and believed in her when she wasn't able to do it herself.
After all this years, he was the only person Olivia knew she could trust with her life.
